Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv - away fans banned | MTA confirm they will refuse any allocation for safety reasons (p26)

They were not banned at Villa Park. PSG brought nearly 2.5k last season and their reputation is far worse than Maccabi’s who probably would have brought 1-1.5k max with many being Jews based in the UK. I bet Birmingham fans wouldn’t be banned, nor Leeds, Millwall etc all of whom would bring far more than Maccabi. If their violence is happening far too regularly name me five instances in Europe where Maccabi have been involved in major violence.
Kudos for really trying hard with the hasbara, even if it is to defend a bunch who regularly sing death to Arabs, keep trying.

Cyprus, six Maccabi fans arrested fir carrying smoke bombs / flares, no major trouble
Athens, no arrests, the odd skirmish, more serious stuff every Friday in Manchester
Amsterdam - as court documents prove this was a Jew hunt by local islamists. 5 Maccabi fans hospitalised,
Rally in Tel Aviv irrelevant and local derby cancelled predominantly due to Hapoel fans not Maccabi.
In 2024 - 2025 we had the second highest number of arrests of all PL teams with 60% being at home, should we be banned given your logic. Stop talking shit, we all know why Maccabi are being banned, it’s because the locals can’t behave themselves.
Study on racist chants in Israeli stadiums, guess who tops the list, even ahead of notorious Beitar, they are proud of having you as their lawyer on blue moon mate.

I'm saying most clubs with organised Ultras have a violence problem, so I'm not here for the whataboutism of this club is this and this club is that. I'm also not interested in hypotheticals of other clubs.

I'm saying the samples with have from the MTA fans arent great and I can see why the police have deemed it too risky.

I dont know why Villa are getting shit for it or the council or the police when reasonable actions have been taken. Nothing irrational has happened.

If you want to argue it with anyone, go to UEFA and suggest Villa cant host it so it should be moved?

With regards to violence, I've read and seen incidents in Athens, Amsterdam and Tel Aviv all in the last 2-3 years. The Jewish Arab Centre for Peace said they led the the charts in racist chanting last season.

So again am I surprised they failed a risk assessment? Absolutely not.

Cyprus, six Maccabi fans arrested fir carrying smoke bombs / flares, no major trouble - apart from the racist assault.
Athens, no arrests, the odd skirmish, more serious stuff every Friday in Manchester - apart from the racist assault.
Amsterdam - as court documents prove this was a Jew hunt by local islamists. 5 Maccabi fans hospitalised, - apart from the racist insults and chanting and tradgedy chanting about the children killed in Gaza.
Rally in Tel Aviv irrelevant - oh no that doesn't fit my argumet when violent thug sattack people who are the same as them because they have a different opinion. I'll ignore that and hope it goes away. I can do that because I am weak-minded. and local derby cancelled predominantly due to Hapoel fans not Maccabi.- according to, guess who, Maccabi Tel Aviv! In 2024 - 2025 we had the second highest number of arrests of all PL teams with 60% being at home, should we be banned given your logic. -No because Manchester City take measures to stop unacceptable fan behaviour on a regular basis. Stop talking shit, we all know why Maccabi are being banned, it’s because the locals can’t behave themselves. Which locals are those? Come on spell it out, Stephen ( or is it Tommy?)
This is a description from an Irish man who lives in Holland and was at the Ajax game

How many Maccabi fans have been banned by their club, Stephen?

The delightful MP for Aston has said the following: "Those who are not welcome in Aston are hooligans that have a long history of violence and vile racism,"

So on that basis how many other clubs should be banned?
I can remember a few incidents at Villa Park that would result in home fans being banned for hooliganism, if not racism.

I thought it was interesting that the majority of supporters that were arrested that night were Ajax fans..... yet they (I believe) are playing at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday - why were they not excluded?

If we're going to base these decisions on a violence factor of supporters then I guess LFC, MUFC and pretty much each and every British football club should be concerned.

Lets face it, the main threat to this game is that a whole load of Palestinian supporters are going to turn up en masse and cause trouble by the way of a protest march. That is the main challenge the Police face.

Football hooligans or louts are something the WM constabulary deal with each and every week and that and that alone should be the focus of their effort.
I think that's a fair comment. I have some sympathy with the police (even West Midlands!) I am sure there would be minimal problems with both sets of fans but the risk is from thousands of Anti-Israel supporters in an area where street and gang violence is not a rare event. It only takes one lunatic to ram a car into a crowd. You are right about the Ajax fans but the extra political dimension is the problem.

Macabbi have stated won't accept tickets for villa game. I welcome this. Perhaps I am cynical but several hundred people chanting there are no schools in gaza etc is not a favourable image to portray. Politics in sport ? I hope I am wrong and macabbi have recognised they have some supporters that behave inappropriately and acted in good faith.

There are a few things in life we are all told but are seldom observed hence the situations we get ourselves in. Two of them are keep politics or keep religion out of sport.

What we have to understand is in an ideal world thats good advice but also it has seldom been followed. The preWW2 Olympics - the Black Power salute - Celtic v Rangers derbies I could go on but they are seldom really separated. When its overt its there for all to see. Some things are seen in hindsight - in 1935 the England football team met a German team under the Nazi rule in Germany at White Heart Lane and gave a Nazi salute. Let that location sink in.

Come to 2025 - there is a lot around the Villa v MTA game but it seems to me that those of a certain political persuasion have chosen to politicise the fixture. The Police made a decision based on intelligence. If they say its not safe. MTA supporters didn't help themselves yesterday by getting involved in a riot and the club is clearly involved in damage limitation now by saying they won't sell tickets.

In my view the Govt should back the Police. Failure to do so means they undermine their authority and regardless what resources they pour into there ANY failure is on them now.

But what has to be remembered that no-one at Villa, the Police nor the Govt has issued a statement using the word Jews. That has only been brought to the table by agitators on both sides of the argument who want to make trouble and have no interest in football.

Keeping politics out of sport is becoming more contentious these days, but I think we can all agree that all politicians should be kept away from all sport at all times.
I don't do politics what so ever.
I don't do religion what so ever.
I remember growing up my dad's mate who's a rag calling my dad a blue prodastan what ever...

I remember thinking what's that got to do with city.
But yes keep politics and religion out of football.
Like Lennon said imagine all the people loving life in peace.

But fuck the rags

More than likely they've been told that their supporters are in for the mother of all kickings, or even much worse if they turn up. Backed up by intelligence. Funny how the PM has gone all quiet on this now that he will have been briefed.

I thought this was a very good piece on it from a non-football fan.

Banned Russia, banned South Africa at the time, but the Gov umming and arr-ing over what it should do as a 2 reasons action, used to be mind-blowing, but is a sign of the times we're under.

a) A country breaking UN rules on collective punishment and ethnic cleansing.

b) and, Maccabi Tel Aviv having hooligans (probably 95% IDF involved soldiers with national service demanded) amongst them.

I've no idea why they're not banned from all sporting events, like they did to Russia.

Athens Arab man beaten nearly died.

Amsterdam video shows Macabi fans on the rampage to blame. Also racist chants attacks on property flags and locals journalists threatened. Then returning to airport baxk
Home and being racist again

Local derby canceled due to police looking for a fight but only with Maccabi opponents I wonder why ?
