North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

A blue Wall, if you want to call it that, would have made a difference to the future atmosphere inside the Etihad.

Improving the atmosphere Inside the Etihad was pushed by the fans. The club know that. The club pushed back on it and decided to go for match day revenue instead as the priority.
Here we go again! You are like a broken fucking record, they have basically given the fans a huge standing area and all you do is blame the club, you are a joke, seriously.

The people getting asked to move from their current seats surely have an entire new stand just behind them to choose seats from. You could end up only a few rows back.
Yes. They get first dibs on better seats in the new stand and will pay their old prices for two seasons. I am not going to slag the club off.

Did you not read my reply to Coatigan, or did you ignore it on purpose?
.
Costigan.

In fairness, that's not true.

The club didn't 'push back' on it, they continuously state otherwise, and have openly put that at the front of this stand development.

Me.

OK, the club didn't push back on it, I'll accept that, and take that back. But I certainly don't think improving the atmosphere with a proper home end was at the forefront of the clubs thinking and priorities for the new NSL2.(in my opinion)

Coatigan.

Fair response. More the how than they why, but I get what you mean

To you.

Like wise, you’re a fucking stuck record, and you always have been, you fucking loon!! According to you the club can do no wrong when it comes to the North stand expansion.

Just today you were blaming 1894, because according to you, ‘1894 couldn’t get their act together and get 3000 singers in the standing area’. If the club isn’t to blame who is? It certainly isn’t 1894. It certainly isn’t City fans.

Who exactly is to blame, MR fucking club PR. Why don’t you sort it out yourself? When was the last time you set up a display? Did a drop down banner? Waved a telescopic flag? Spoke with the club regarding displays? Organised fan relocations for certain matches with the club? Organised funding for flags, banners, and displays. Sorted out the flag room, etc. 1894 members do all of that on their own time and before a match. That’s what 1894 members do and more. Don’t fucking tell me and everyone else reading this thread that 1894 (members) need to get their act together.

You.

Minimum 3000 standing area...if 1894 can't get their act together and get this full of singers the club are not to blame.

You’re welcome to your new North stand. I sincerely hope you make it a roaring and atmospheric success, instead of just talking the talk and being the clubs PR on this thread.

Got anything to add @pride in battle or are you going to continue being a wumming **** like you’ve been for the last 18 months on this topic?

I would make the new north stand for day trippers and tourists, it's got a hotel attached to it. Doubt it will get much use from actual blues. Make the South Stand for locals and die hards,
The South Stand is too segregated into small chunks of tiers though.

SSL0 trapped between the away fans and the quietest stand in the stadium.
SSL1 has the same issue but also has a hospitality area there.
SSL2 is larger but still much smaller than NSL1 will be.

Just look at this, at every other team in Europe this would be a vocal stand:

It’s going to have the new City Sqaure there, big bar areas inside the stand, it’s at the end with the Met stop, it’s a giant tier, got a great deep sloping roof to aid the atmosphere, couldn’t be much better for being our first proper big vocal stand for over three decades.

I can’t believe we’re going to let this last ever opportunity we have to get a proper vocal stand at the Etihad slip through our fingers.

I think it’s now time to leave the South Stand behind. Those who still want the banter with the away fans, fair enough; but it’s time to move on from the small tiers and get into the fist big proper tier we’ve had since the old Kippax.

The New North Stand should have been our Kop, Holte End, and Gollowgate, and should have been our answer to the Yellow Wall, but no Blue Wall. @HelloCity is right in his description.

The easy solution for the corporate seating area is to make the sky bar area bigger and have seats up there that have access to the Sky Bar instead of the GA+ section in the middle. This would be a better solution for everyone.

The images look very similar to NYCFC

At least the images are realistic - Tambales, soup dumplings and Cotton Candy - they are ready for when they run out of chips !!!

I think I have read all the pages but has no one mentioned how shit the name "Cross Bar" is yet? Sounds like it's going to be a cross stand too!

I can't work out the City Hall area, but maybe they'll sell the other 1,000 tickets to that as an extra cost on the season ticket. 500 get access to it and seats in the new stand, others get access to it and GA seats?

Who knows.

The stand can still do the job we want it to, you have to look at the positives. Several thousand in a single tier will out do 800 GA+ seats. But it very much sounds like people are letting the negatives outweigh the positives. I do get the criticism from those having to move and the way it's been announced to them though.

I thought that the name Cross Bar was chosen as a lasting tribute to the great David Cross, one of our legends of the 1980s...

I may be mistaken.

I know this may sound as if I am poking my nose in where it probably isn’t wanted but I’m cheeky enough to do it!
Maybe we give the club the benefit of the doubt and see how it goes?
I am not a conspiracy theorist thinking all the club want is money, money, money. They do too much good for the community and for the fans for me to think that.
They are a business yes, a business that needs to make money to keep going. They know that one off tourists are not going to continually bring in money. The description one off tells us that. We as SC holders bring in money every week. Ok we don’t buy a new kit or a half and half scarf or a souvenir, but we bring in money from food, ticket prices, car parks etc.

I’m sorry to butt in but this will be my last season as a SC holder because of my health. Please, please stop arguing among yourselves and take joy and pride in enjoying the matches with MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. :-) :-)

p.s. when they removed some seats for the advertising hoardings or something I was asked to move. As it turned out in the end they left our bit alone eventually because of the cameras and media in front of us. But I’d psyched myself up to move so I have a bit of an understanding as to how those being asked to move feel. I’m sorry if I offend anyone, it is not my intention. I’m just trying to see another perspective. :-) :-) :-)

You have to personally attend 16 to upgrade to gold. Not just buy them. Unless I’ve got that wrong!?
You do, but there’s nothing stopping you taking someone else or tapping theirs in till facial recognition comes in, and it’s a tenner or less per game for kids, so I wouldn’t risk sending any back, just buy em & get it upgraded

Too sensible post that for people on here mate.

Sorry to hear it’s your last year as a SC/ST holder EB, how many years has it been?

The people getting asked to move from their current seats surely have an entire new stand just behind them to choose seats from. You could end up only a few rows back.
Aren’t fans on row 0 (directly behind the goal) being asked to move? The new stand is potentially more like 40 rows back on a different tier.

I thought that the name Cross Bar was chosen as a lasting tribute to the great David Cross, one of our legends of the 1980s...

I may be mistaken.

Could well be. Could also be a reference to our early history which we don't have. Or a cheap pun behind the goal. Or a cross dressers' bar.

The problem we have is if we don’t take ownership of the stand we know what’s going to happen, as you point out it’s gonna have some amazing perks whether you’re GA+ or still in your same seat. I get the frustrations with it, but as you say what’s done is done, we need to focus on what we can affect, and the atmosphere is the biggest potential gain for the benefit of everyone

One thing that maybe got missed in the club statement amongst it all

'We also look forward to sharing further exciting updates about our new museum, fan zone, hotel, and food and beverage spaces, all of which are due to open in late 2026'.

Pretty sure the original programme was sometime in june 26 for the final bit which is the City Square. So maybe running a bit behind, or maybe leaving room to manage expectations. Hopefully it is already for the 26/27 season.

Gone and support the team I get about it about seats but our owners are amazing I don’t like the tourist shit but I’m old school things in life move on all the time enjoy the time we’re having on the pitch it won’t last forever and I’m not offending anyone CTID good or bad times
