Trying to unearth a gem while other clubs unearth our gemsNot having a pop at you mate but I see this quite regularly and it always makes me laugh it's not going to be Steve Bruce is it! Our next manager will be one of the elite coaches in world football.
Our main issue is our poor dealings in the market the last 2-3 years. We always seem to be trying to unearth a gem nowadays instead of going out getting the best out there. For instance Caicedo would have sorted our midfield out for 10 years we're pissing about with the like of Philips Nunes and by the looks of things this lad. Hope he improves because there is something there but he looks well short of what's needed at present to me.
I think I could do a better job of finding a couple of half decent fullbacks.Reijnders is part of the solution not the problem. He's a victim of other problems within the squad. Thank God some of you aren't in line to take Vianna's place.
Are Nunes and O'Reilly "half decent"? You tell me. So many looking anywhere but the obvious shortcomings.I think I could do a better job of finding a couple of half decent fullbacks.
Unfortunately in that Arsenal game he dilly dallied on the ball in injury time instead of taking it to the corner, which led to there equaliser, he’s a bit too nice for me, somebody needs to tell him you have to be a **** to make it in this leagueHe is a flair player in a young side trying to make its way in the top league in world football. He is in his first season . He has to adapt to what Pep wants which is not easy. Our game against Arsenal showed what he can do in the build up to Haalands's goal. Against United he was excellent. There have been flashes of brilliance. Unfortunately we've not seen enough of that but it will come. Patience is needed.
It is of course a comfort blanket for the happy clappers who believe that every player we sign is brilliant. The bedding in excuse is given every time we sign a player. It would be quite nice to buy one who actually hits the ground running. Only Haaland has done that in the last 3 years and maybe Donnarumma too.
wharton is no deJong nice on eye pass but getting stuck in lolAgreed but he'd been excellent for Brighton. The warning signs are there with Reijnders relatively old was playing in Holland until his mid 20s, not many caps etc.
There is something there but the more I see the more I think he's too lightweight and not what we needed. We are crying out for someone who can play alongside Rodri/Nico. I'd be all in for Whatron personally.
Try a box with Foden and Reijnders in front of Rodri and Nico G. Haaland up top with Marmoush or Cherki or even Doku. Fullbacks provide the width. To be fair I don't think we can judge any of the new signings given the fact that with 13 odd games into the season we have not had a settled lineup - It's all about having a system that gets the best out of the individual pieces. Until I've seen a few games with a set midfield system ie Rodri at the heart of it I will not judge Tijjani harshly. He clearly has an ability to be the one midfielder arriving late into the box which is why he scored a lot last season but he also clearly needs to be part of a more regular set up. Pep through injury and choice has revolved the midfielders nearly every match so far.
The key has to be playing only one winger and having both Nico & Rodri at the base of any midfield combination - but what do I know?
My first choice front 6 would be and I would love to see this given a few games.
Rodri - Nico - Cherki
Foden - Haaland - Doku
We can judge on what we've seen up until now, which is very little after the Wolves game. It's the writing him off wholeheartedly from some that's a bit daft. Needs to improve though, no doubt. To be fair I don't think we can judge any of the new signings given the fact that with 13 odd games into the season we have not had a settled lineup - It's all about having a system that gets the best out of the individual pieces. With Tijjani as first option for either Nico or Rayan depending on the oppostion.
