Mamdani ran an energetic and slick campaign and used social media to get the vote out in ways the Dems can learn from nation-wide. Maybe tonight's results show what the county is saying. That said, some of Mamdani's ideas for NYC don't make sense: make the buses free and they'll be too crowded to get on, or don't have police respond to domestic violence calls and there'll be social workers trying to tackle abusive husbands wielding knives.
But the guy who's also pleased tonight is Trump who can newly represent New York as a hotbed of "crazy socialist extremism."

Tonight was the first time voters got a chance to repudiate Trumponomics and they REJECTED it such that they elected the first woman Governor of Virginia and the first Muslim woman to hold a statewide office in America as her Lieutenant Governor, plus another woman Governor in New Jersey!

However, of possibly greater significance, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court affirmed the 3 Democratic State Supreme Court Justices that will help oversee the 2028 presidential election in PA. Trump and the Fascists we’re hoping to remove the Democratic majority on that Court and allow a Republicans majority to rule on the 2028 Presidential election…if he loses and sues, or Dems sue because of poll rigging!

Yup.

This is of vital importance in the fight to save democracy. Had MAGA secured the PA Supreme Court tonight it would have given them a hugely unfair advantage in the upcoming mid-terms.
 
Thought Mamdani’s speech was a bit strident, tbh, but he was feeling his oats in front of his supporters.

Mamdani’s biggest problem now is the NY City Council, whom he has to convince to do the things he wants. No mean feat!

However, his election may well be part of the seismic shift needed for the Govt Shutdown to end. Republicans aren’t all tone deaf, and should have heard loud and clear that TRUMP IS A LOSING PROPOSITION FOR THEM AND THEIR FUTURE.

I would expect a few Republicans to support the continuation of ACA Health Care subsidies in order to end the shutdown…which is now the LONGEST GOVT SHUTDOWN IN HISTORY AND THE FIRST ONE TO EVER STOP THE FOOD STAMP PROGRAM TO THE POOREST AMERICANS!!!
