England seem basically to have realised that the brainlessness of the early 2020s was just that, and have changed tack to the current style. They seem to have strength in depth in half the positions too.

High kicks to contest will work well against NZ and Australia because they don't really play that style - SA are better at it at the moment, although when Etzebeth and co retire, it'll be some feat to match them.

The best way for reach the World Cup final will continue to be by not playing NZ in the knockout rounds!

F Smith wasn't in the 23, but played all match last week.
M Smith wins if Ford is playing because the 6-2 split means versatility is needed (and as happened at the end of today's match, a back row forward goes and stands in the midfield, if needed). As it was M Smith came on early as Steward failed an HIA.

Agree with that - M Smith looks good on what is sometimes called second five-eighths - one out from 10, but he's not a centre. Coming into the line from fullback is his main attacking threat.

England seem to have worked that out.

They do lots for kids and local teams get nice clubhouses but they do fuck all for the Pro game
