Champions League: BT extends TV rights until 2021 in deal worth £1.2bn

Paramount+ has wo the bid to show nearly all the games in the UK from 2027

RIP TNT.

It’ll be interesting to see what percentage move over and who sack it off for streams.

There needs to be a limit of how many subscription services there are to watch one product. It’s getting silly.

I have TNT purely because of the CL (I pay £14 a month) and also BT Internet
Both will be sacked off at the end of my deal, which handily will be around April 2027

Fucksake so that's going to be three different sports channel subscriptions then as I'm sure TNT will still have the premier league on, I do hope my mate who watches dodgy streams will be able to keep up

TNT will be having crisis talks. They’ll have to drastically drop their subscription fee without CL football.
The FA cup and small amount of PL games won't keep them afloat.

Also a potential warning shot to Sky for the actual premier league rights. A streamer could easily pick up all their games and use their current international PL coverage broadcasting production company to show it.

F1 is heading that way. The deal with Apple in the USA is up for renegotion in 2029. The same time as Sky. One global broadcast provider would make sense for both organisations.

Broadcast a tournament on a platform few if anyone has or wants, in the hope it will boost subscriptions.

Oh UEFA....you fucking morons...
All about the $$$$$

It's only because it's law that the World Cup has to be on terrestrial TV here. Otherwise that would have gone to DAZN or another worldwide broadcaster by now.

I’m sure my Paramount Discovery subscription (part of EE mobile subscription free stuff) has had the TNT stuff since at least last year

Edit: maybe it’s not paramount hmmm

They do. They’ll be discussing how most of the UK will not continue to subscribe once their CL rights end.

Either that or they drastically reduce their price. Not sure there is a long term subscription model in snooker.

Are you a US viewer?

Only asking as I see there's some streaming companies that offer bespoke packages to get all the sports they want in one place. Rather than having to fork out to various channels.

Surprised that model hasn't hit the UK yet.

Riyadh season have invested heavily in snooker. Mr Hearn and match room have lots of fingers in their pie.

They might promote a boxing/snooker crossover event.

I can see the format now. Miss a shot and the opponent gets a chance to smack you.

The TNT arm of Discovery Plus has been haemorrhaging money for a while now, so this doesn’t surprise me. On the other hand for the viewer, I can’t imagine Paramount or anyone else is gonna be actually paying less for the new rights deal, so wherever it ends up, the one certainty is that is won’t be any cheaper to subscribe to! In my opinion.

Paramount have the rights in France,Germany and the USA.

They're could be the global exclusive partner in the offing.

We know that means. A CL final will be played in the US if that occurs.

Well to me it’s would ;)…I can’t remember the last program I watched on the bbc all tripe! Oh they can buy a package like Amazon do..

The made a total of 5.9 made 2b from other activities!
I love a bit of tripe. Doused in vinegar, with a couple of slabs of white bread with salted butter.

Can't see it mentioned but it's also being announced that SKY have bought the rights to the Europa and Conference.

Also that Paramount won't have excusive rights to all Champions League. Amazon have extended their deal for exclusive rights of the pick of one Tuesday game each round.

So to legally watch every game from 2027, you'll need:

BBC License
SKY Sports subscription
TNT subscription
Paramount subscription
Amazon Prime subscription
