Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Not an easy fixture, but summed up by that short corner routine in the closing minutes and the misunderstanding between our two substitutes that led to a Newcastle counter attack

Arsenal were in a similar situation last month and scored twice from set pieces.

Also, when the club posts videos of goals involving 40 passes and everyone touching the ball, perhaps they could also post videos of the moves involving 39 passes and the ball then going out for an opposition throw in.

Still annoyed by the refereeing yesterday, but in the cold light of day I'm not too down about the result. Always felt like it was going to be a tough test, and it's a reminder that we're still very much a work in progress. Game could have gone either way really, but they took more of their chances.

Glad we've got another game so quickly to put the result behind us. Got a run of winnable games coming up, so hopefully we can kick on. Getting a fully fit Rodri back in the coming weeks would be a huge plus.

It’s commendable, but Foden doesn’t do us many favours in terms of winning penalties.

If he goes down and stays down clutching his ankle after that challenge, he forces the issue and the penalty gets awarded, imo.

Shouldn’t be the case, but unfortunately it is.

He did stay down clutching his ankle? It's irrelevant anyway, we aren't getting fuckall in terms of favours from the referees. Particularly the game after 2 weeks of scouse gnashing and wailing about unfair everything is.

We won 4 titles on the bounce getting fuckall from the officials and we could have won today if Erling and Phil had taken their gilt edged chances in the first half. I'd rather focus on that as that's the part we can control and improve on.

Sky normally have their offside line up in seconds on a VAR call but not last night, so much fishy stuff
They gave PiGMOB time to do their work. People seem to think the cunts in Stockley Park somehow have their own feed, they don’t, it’s from SKY or whoever, like the FA CUP Final when their keeper should have been off yet **** Shearer repeated lies to influence PIGMOB before later admitting it was a red. Yes PIGMOB have multi camera angles, BUT they also get a view on what’s being broadcast, if SKY lobby for something by showing continuous repeats they take notice. Last night was cheating in plain sight.

Wouldn’t surprise me if theres a similar incident in today's games (regarding Fodens not penalty) that gets given.

The club have a duty to seek protection for their players, in my opinion by constantly turning the other cheek they are shirking their responsibilities. If I jumped on someone’s ankle in the street I would be charged with assault and rightly so. For some reason, assault is ok when it’s on our players. The club need to finally do something before careers are destroyed.

Didn’t answer the question then..
I thought my answer was obvious. Your 'project players' would presumably include Rodri, Josko, Haaland, Foden, Doku, Cherki along with Gonzo, Rudolph, Marmoush, Savinho & Ait Nouri as well as club trained Oscar, Nico, & Rico. We've got a cracking young squad that will only get better and with a couple of big new signings will be capable of scaling previous heights.

He looks 6ft 5 playing for Croatia and 5ft 6 playing for us
He did ok clearing the line from the corner, but the rest of his game turned proper shit. At least, he was more than decent in attack, not that's gone as well.
But it is not only him, this team has serious limitations and no consistency at all.

The new signings just haven't hit the ground running which you have to do now. Reijnders has gone missing after his brilliant debut, Marmoush has gone missing full stop, Nico ok in patches, Cherki the same. Khusanov out of favour and injured. Hopefully in time they can become key players but we need to see so much more from them
