Elliot Anderson

Are there figures for wins, draws and losses when playing?

I'm sure there are, but I'm not sure that would tell you much in itself. If you can get the team's win % when the player plays and compare it to when they don't, that could be revealing.

No idea what that's going to show for any of them. Tbf even then it wouldn't be totally useful because often the best players get rested for easier games etc.

I think that the results when playing and when not would be interesting.

Don't really see much difference between Rice and Anderson at 23 years old, so get him in imo. We did mess up not getting Rice. He's not a #6 but he would have been a great Gundogan replacement. Don't see any reason why Anderson can't be that guy.

At the age of 23, Rice had played about 130 PL games for a mid-table West Ham side, had around 25 caps for England, and had scored about 5-10 career goals. Having just turned 23, Anderson has played about 110 PL games for mid-table sides, has 6 caps for England, and has scored about 10 career goals.

By the start of next season he'll be on around 130 PL games with around 15 England caps. Definitely worth going for.

Worth a punt imo.
Rice had that brilliant season in Europe captaining West Ham which definitely added to his price tag as the media were so invested in it.

£100million price tag unfortunately puts huge pressure on a player's shoulders, this would be my worry.
Don’t think so nowadays. Especially because there are other players in the same bracket now. As long as the player backs themselves we’re all good

Even then that was 2023, by which point Rice was a year or two older than Anderson is now.

Let's see what Anderson does with Forest this season.

Rumours online that Anderson has a secret release clause like Gibbs white. If Forest don’t get European football, one coming from a Forest fan channel.

If he does just offer 50m then keep upping it by 5m till it has to be excepted!

But with these so called release clauses will have something in them that they can say nope we not selling!? Maybe like the one that’s rumoured that the club has to be in champs league?! Now they can say in January we don’t know if this club will get champs league? Just because they are so many games left!

I might be a transfer snob but it makes me nervous filling our team out with Forrest and Bournemouth players

Here me out:

Our recent intra-league signings
Trafford - binned off after a couple of games. Didn’t look up to it. All too big for him at this stage

Ait Nouri - early days but where is he? Kept out of the team by an academy midfield player

Nunes - can’t hack it in his position is filling in at right back

Phillips - we all know about that

Grealish - a few good months but he even admitted he was blown away by the quality when he got here and is now on loan at a bottom half team

I want players to turn up with attitude and/or medals. See Dias, KDB, Haaland, Donnarumma

That’s not to say PL players are automatically flops, look at Stones and Walker

Maybe Anderson is the man and I’ve got this wildly wrong but our recent track record leave a lot to be desired on that front

I mean Rice was a West Ham player and hes doing pretty good now, Caicedo was at Brighton etc.

Would love him in our midfield, gives us a bit of steel, this is what we are missing, he is more. I really do think we someone to help Nico G. I also think Nic O Reilly should be given a chance in midfield.

Maybe why we might try and move in Jan as you’d expect them not to qualify so if we bid more than 50 they’d get a better deal.

Apart from losing him in January

I’m not saying it can’t work, we’ve do it with Stones, Walker and Marhez. Just our track record hasn’t been great
We've also had Ake who was far from a flop. Players from anywhere can flop or be successful . Ait Nori is neither more nor less successful than Reinjders or Marmoush , he's been injured. Plucking examples of either does not determine where we will get good players from in the future.

Personally I think you tend to have to pay somewhat more for the same quality from premier league teams than from leagues elsewhere but you do need domestically qualified players of good enough quality for a squad capable of competing at home and in Europe.

Milner signing was good. But then every midfielder like Phillips/Rodwell has bene a complete waste of time.
Sometimes a good signal is the physcial development, Anderson looks after himself and you can see's an elite in terms of fitness as well as being strong.
I just wonder about the technical ability in our squad, he might end up at right back knowing Pep :P

The top 2 guys on this least are the 2 guys id acquire if i was City. I think our one time strength of pressing and turning opponents over in their half has become a big weakness.

Which is unfortunate, seeing as more and more teams have adopted the "playing out of the back" philosophy.

There are far more opportunities to turn teams over in their half and create chances now than ever before, but sadly we've become a below average pressure team. From being one of the 2 absolute best in world football to a shell of a press team has been disappointing.

Anderson and Ndiaye will help tremendously if you ask me

Who cares if he's £100milliion? He is a quality player, been really impressed the last couple years and seems to be improving still so his ceiling is unknown. Other teams don't seem to care about the money anymore funnily enough, let's go for it.
Its not always just about the money, but rather sometimes its about the opportunity cost.

You get 25 million player who stinks, or just doesn't fit, you can move him in a year. Eben at a profit. However, you do the same with a 100 million player and you have to give him 2-3 years minimum and even after you conclude he ks not good enough, you vant move him coz her cost too much.

So you can mortgage both the present snd future with an expensive mistake. A cheap mistake doesn't do that.

So money ALWAYS matters. Not because pundits use it as a stick, but rather because its good business practice

I forgot about Ake. He has been broadly excellent

It’s about the team that they will sell to has to be in the champs league! Teams in January even though it near dam guaranteed certain clubs will be in it, it’s not a fact then..
