VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

No chance, ref thought the ball was out and can’t blame him from that view. Do like the argument that before VAR the refs would have been flawless lol.
And here you are to argue for VAR, but you are nowhere to be seen when the shitsow is constantly wrong. Do us all a favour and fuck off back to your own forum you prick.

Just on my way back home from City on the bus home..

I have been reading this VAR thread for a long time now and have been biting my lip for some considerable time but when your shit team gets relegated this season hopefully, you will fcuk off from this thread permanently as there will be no VAR for you to wank over ln the championship..

What a sad bastard you are, hanging around on a Manchester City forum..
Get down off the fence Bill

No worry’s, I’ve heard similar a few times over the years - don’t really see the need for abuse over a VAR forum discussing the pros and cons, there’s pages of outrage when there’s a controversial VAR decision surely reading the odd one when it’s a force for good like Liverpool not getting away with conceding a penalty thanks to VAR isn’t something to get worked up about. Whole point of a forum is to see different points of view.

well actually I am when there’s controversy but was told last time not to give my opinion.
I’ve often criticised VAR over the years and understand why many don’t want it in the game, and there will never be a perfect officiating system. I just prefer to stick with it and want it to improve and give the odd case for keeping it. Like Leeds getting a penalty against Liverpool tonight otherwise they would have been robbed - but if it makes you feel good calling me a prick then good for you.

But this is the biggest advocate for needing it. Refs just miss to much - I actually give them benefit with the speed of the game, the appealing and cheating from players etc.

What bollox ... you really are a jouster.

Refs dont miss it , they now choose not tp make decisons knowing your shit VAR will bail them out

Refs have become worse because of VAR..

What is it with your obsession with Southgate ,Var and bluemoon

Yes you're right. You are a prick. Why are you on a City forum and not on your own teams forum.!? The answer is obviously because Westham fans have long since fucked you off. YOU PRICK.

No I really believe Leeds would not have had that penalty tonight, from the Refs angle it wasn't conclusive at all and it looked like ball was out also. also just seen the O'Nien disgusting tackle, ref deemed it a yellow only... var overturned to Red.

advocated for Southgate as thought the abuse on him was unfair and felt he did good playing a young side and getting us to semi/finals etc.
VAR i advocate for as i feel Refs need tech help , I hate the thought of offside goals allowed to stand and players diving and winning penalties like before etc, its not all good, they still cock up which is infuriating, it causes delays and i can understand why many want to scrap it.
Bluemoon - great forum, been here about 15 years i think, love the Music and Political stuff, helped set up run groups, donated to stuff and also got donations, met a couple posters one recently at oasis gig who was a top bloke, pop in general football every now and then but not the man city section.

When you are going to get that all this "referee freezing" and not giving decisions is a byproduct of VAR. They simply "do nothing" and wait for VAR rather than properly officiating a match and making decisions.

They never needed this kind of help. They needed to be allowed to do their jobs and make decisions. Now they don't and the way in which decisions are made are driving everyone up a wall. You like it though, apparantly. We would like our football back.

I hate the thought of referees hamstrung by a system that is designed to make them second guess their own decision and to convince them to change it, based on inconsistent or random criteria in any given moment. I'm afraid that Football has been harmed greatly by this system. Having a failsafe might sound good in theory, but on a football pitch, it's complete madness.

Anthony Taylor let the VAR make that decision, which is against all protocols for VAR in the first place.

He decided not to make a decision, he didn't say it was a corner or a goal kick, a dive or a penalty. He waited because he knew the safety net would do his job for him.

Awful.
