Crystal Palace (A) I PL I Post Match Thread

Think maybe some aren’t happy as they are used to us controlling games mostly for 90+ minutes, but with the other pep and of course the main pep we are evolving our football,we unfortunately will give up more chances but once we get ( hopefully) into full stride we will be creating a lot more as well, don’t forget we are hoping to have Rodri back at some stage as well..

did i say we were shit? i simply pointed out that we need to get our midfield sorted
In the last week or so, we've beaten Palace away (top 5 team), Real Madrid away, and Sunderland (one of the revelations of the season). It really is a cracking set of results.
TBF, I do think in both games the result was better than the performance, but that’s not a problem for me, as even when we were at our best in the past we sometimes struggle to do be that kind of team.

The point is it's the same old drivel and it's fucking boring. We won again, we scored 3 again, we're second and improving, we now have a better goal difference while they're hanging on for dear life and relying on an injury time OG for the win (which kept us off top spot) and you're still not happy.

JUST enjoy the ride and stop moaning FFS.
I think the only difference from treble season is that at the moment I don't necessarily expect us to win.

That was a VERY good result against a team who can beat anyone on their day. They are big, physical and play to their strengths. It's not an easy place to go to and results like today will be huge come May. I think their manager is doing a good job there.

We rode our luck at times but sometimes that happens but I thought most of their big chances would've been offside anyway.

Cherki was superb and everytime he got the ball he was scheming. The way he pulled 2 defenders to give Nunes space was brilliant and it goes without saying Haalands finish was world class.

I watched Guehi and Wharton as we were linked with them and wasn't bowled over if I'm honest. Guehi looked quick and strong but he didn't stand out and Wharton had flashes but he didn't stand out against (arguably) our"weak" midfield.

Arsenal know they can't drop points now, we're starting to find a bit of form. It's going to be interesting now!!

COME ON CITY!

So again show me where I didnt post positives....
Show me where I typed that ?

You manage to post positives and still sound negative, personally I couldn't care less, I enjoyed the game, we won at a difficult place to win at, keeping a clean sheet, and dominated the game.

There are a number of posters on here (not just you) who are desperate to be negative, they can't help themselves even after a good result and performance.

Tada....

Thought our defence was poor but everyone of their chances before Haaland scored were offside. Defence dug in really well in the 2nd half
Defensive performance saw them end up goal-less. Isn't that the point? They did enough, and that's all that's needed. They never seriously looked like scoring if you dismiss the numerous offsides (including the one that hit the bar), and playing them offside so often is part of good defending.

The only one I thought was a bit poor was Donnarumma punching out what looked like an easy catch towards the end of the match.

where did i say i wasn't happy? all i pointed out was we need to get our midfield reinforced and if you can't see that i your not watching the same game, yes it was a great result but you can see certain players are starting to struggle without any rest and midfield is the most important area of the pitch if you want to control the game, hope that explains everything to you and the other two nobheads

Well deserved 3 points. Not at our absolute best, hardly surprising after a tough away game in Madrid, but still a deserved win.

Defence were great. Foden and Cherki also excellent and also Haaland with his 2 goals.

A lot to like about that performance.

what none stop moaning, i merely pointed out we are struggling to control midfield and if you can't see that your'e thick, and by the way i started watching city in 1960 and got my first season ticket in 1972, went home and away until 2018 so fuck off lecturing me about the 80s and 90s
Not quite sure how your mental health survived pal. You’re a fekin misery - full stop. Go out and get a pint - you sound the the grumpy old fart that sits in the corner with his pint and a packet of pork scratching that everyone know not to ask how he is.

That's fair enough, but I think we're better than a lot are giving us credit for. Had Arsenal not scabbed the last minute win last night we'd be top now and in the top 8 in the CL and QF of the Carabou. That's not too shabby by anybody's standards.

Certainly vastly better than last season and better than I think many expected (somebody said early in the season we were "light years behind Liverpool").

It's not about severity.

Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.), the offending player must be sent off.

Was Henderson challenging for the ball or was he holding Savinho's leg?
I personally think he should have been sent off, but the wording of the LOTG leave it open to interpretation and allow referee's discretion to come into play.

I've no doubt we'll see a different outcome in a similar situation before this season is out.
