Adam Wharton

I dont think those stats are relevant, we were and are the better side. Palace also set up not to have the ball, we were never in danger of having less of the ball but when the ball was in midfield, he dominated in there imo. Regularly taking it off our players when it was there to be won and used the ball really well. swap Wharton for any of our midfield today and it becomes an even more comfortable win. He was class.
We'll have to disagree.

Not sure I'd go as far as to say he ran the show today. 62-38 possession and over 240 more passes than Palace. Is he a decent player? Yes, undoubtedly. He's probably destined for a "big" club. But, watching the game, I can’t honestly say that I think he ran it. Cherki would have more claim to that, in my (biased) opinion.
Agreed.

Wharton had a 69% pass completion pretty poor he won 16 duels which was the same as Gonzalez

Good player, did ok but honestly never thought he did anything to suggest he ran the show or would get in our side.

We'll have to disagree.
Fair enough, perfectly entitled to your own different opinion.

He played the pass into pino when he hit the bar and should have scored, he played the ball down the channel to Sarr who also should have scored ( think he was also offside as it happens) he robbed Nico on the edge of the box and then hit the post with his effort. he was central to everything Palace did that caused us problems and was the best player on the pitch for my money. Not sure what else he could have done in an inferior side.

I think Anderson is a better fit. But both are very good and an upgrade
The advantage Anderson has is he can rotate at 6 and play as a hard working 8.

Whereas with Wharton, he is the 8 in Palaces midfield he is always paired with a more defensive 6, this let's Wharton focus on his deep passing range.

If we can only get 1, Anderson is safer.

But maybe Viana can do some magic, because down the line, we need two midfielders.

There is no way you could have watched today’s game and come to that conclusion.

Wharton was the best player on the pitch and made Gonzalez look like Javi Garcia with a massive hangover.
It seems like we are repeating the mistake of overplaying Rodri, with Nico. He needs a rest, and that was a big factor, though I am one of those who would agree with your assessment of Wharton.

Best player on the pitch lol

Let’s just ignore his ball over the top for the Pino chance that hit the bar, him making Gonzalez look like a girl when he robbed him and went onto hit the post and the numerous times he put Sarr in with perfectly weighted through balls in the first half. Instead, let’s rely on some coloured squares with little numbers in that some silly website has come up with.

FFS mate.
