Adam Wharton

Ran the joint today. I've wanted this lad for well over 18 months now but seen us sign 2 midfielders ahead of him in that time. He's going to end up at a top club and be a top player for a decade, but I think we missed our opportunity to get him. We have to sign a midfielder in January to stand a chance of Winning anything imo, he isnt going to be made available in January so things just arent going to fall into place with him.

Anderson is better

But, anyway

Would like to see him next to Nico from january on way before Bernardo, Lewis or Kovacic

At his age he will only improve under Pep. Nico G will need a rest sometime and if Rodri is still recovering then we need backup or Nico G will end up shortening his career at a younger age than Rodri.

If we could have any chance of signing Wharton in January then do it and we can improve our chances of winning the league..
If possible then Wharton and Semenyo would be the best January window ever and mean only a couple of players would be needed in summer.

It would easily make up for Rodri's fitness issues, would also cover for Kovacic and mean Bobb's indifferent form isn't an issue, plus Doku would also have cover

He is, not that bothered whether we go for Wharton or Anderson think there is little between them to replace Bernardo and Kovacic. Think it’s highly unlikely to happen before the summer though.
I think they're very different players and Anderson is more what we need tbh, but I think they'd be great together. No chance we're spending the best part of the 200 million it'd cost to bring them both in though.

If there's even a sniff of a chance that we can shift Ortega and Phillips in January and get them off the wage bill, it doesn't seem unrealistic that we could bring in Wharton or Anderson.

The problem is, though, that getting the first bit done looks harder than the second.

It's a tough ask to find any club in the world that would take Phillips off our hands. There's still a chance for Ortega, mind.

No the first part has nothing to do with the second part, the second part will be far harder than the first part because there is absoloutely no reason for Forest or Palace to entertain a January bid.

Not sure I'd go as far as to say he ran the show today. 62-38 possession and over 240 more passes than Palace. Is he a decent player? Yes, undoubtedly. He's probably destined for a "big" club. But, watching the game, I can’t honestly say that I think he ran it. Cherki would have more claim to that, in my (biased) opinion.

That was the first time I've been impressed by Wharton. His positioning was good - often in the right place to cut out the pass, his tackling was sharp and clean, there was some good passing but his shooting was very wayward (thankfully). I suspect he will end up in a regular CL side - so we should be looking to make that ours as there is no one better than Pep to help him improve. I not that this season he can go into our PL & CL squads as an U-21 player - so no impaction the squad numbers.

However, I suspect it would take a silly money bid in January to get him, and for his England World Cup place it might be better for him to stay playing regularly for Crystal Palace than risk struggling to get into our first team. A good tournament can add some series £££'s to any contract.

Happily have either him or Anderson. He was good today and has a great skillset. Feels more a controller than Anderson but the latter is better defensively. Be happy with either though, as Nico can't play all the time (or as a lone 6 with no support) and it's time to move Kova on

I dont think those stats are relevant, we were and are the better side. Palace also set up not to have the ball, we were never in danger of having less of the ball but when the ball was in midfield, he dominated in there imo. Regularly taking it off our players when it was there to be won and used the ball really well. swap Wharton for any of our midfield today and it becomes an even more comfortable win. He was class.
