Shamima Begum

I don’t trust this. Her appeals were all on the basis that she didn’t have Bangladeshi citizenship granted she lost but Bangladesh said she didn’t have it. She is eligible for it but I haven’t seen any evidence she actual has it. Could it be automatic ? Have we seen the actual proceedings ? Has she even been to Bangladesh ? Looks like she is appealing to the ECHR will she win ? If she does it will probably be because she doesn’t have Bangladeshi citizenship.

Bangladesh have already said that if she applied to activate it, they would reject it immediately.

Therefore we have this loophole where she is technically stateless as she has access to no nationality.
If that’s correct then she is already stateless even if she could activate Bangladeshi citizenship which is illegal yet she has some how failed under multiple appeals in a country with a generally good rule of law which is interesting something doesn’t really add up

Can you blame them, but as she no longer holds British citizenship its illegal under international law for Bangladesh to refuse her citizenship if only she hadn't fucked off to join a bunch of murderers she wouldn't have this problem.

We’ll see with the appeals process. They’ve been exhausted in the U.K., but as you say, ECHR is next.

Even if it is technically legally correct, it seems like it could set a unpleasant precedent for other U.K. citizens that commit a crime abroad who have any claim to another citizenship.

But surely it’s already illegal to take her citizenship off her as she doesn’t have the Bangladeshi one yet and she is therefore stateless which is illegal

If you don't know the basic difference between right and wrong at 15, you have a problem. I knew at that age not to be giving the neighbours grief, or to getting into trouble with the police, or at school. As, I'm guessing, you did. Basic common sense. Was I a goody two shoes? Certainly not. But I like to think that I knew how far to go before I started to look like a twat.
So maybe Farage should be done for inciting violence / racism / harassment when he was 11 - 17

Begum also holds Bangladeshi citizenship through her parents, under section 5 of the Citizenship Act, 195

Unfortunately for her she does.

I never mentioned their citizenship being revoked, it's an example that under international law they have the right to return to the country of their parents birth. Just as Ms Begum has.
I assume the U.K. hasn’t stopped them activating their U.K. citizenship?

Not trying a citizen for their crimes is wrong. It sets a very unpleasant precedent.

No doubt Farage will be looking at revoking all Bangladeshi U.K. citizenship. After all, there doesn’t need to be a trial…
