Newcastle United (A) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

Absolutely brilliant win

Everyone played their part but i thought Bernie led us superbly. Nico was like a veteran in the middle of the park. The young lad at the back did well, Ake was solid, Doku dazzled them and to be able to bring on two subs of the quality of Rodri and Cherki was a real fillip given that the officials, in addition to their usual condoning of thuggery against us, were finding new and innovative ways to cheat us

He was offside but it's whether he interfered with the play and considering Pope was diving the opposite way, whilst being blocked by his own defender it's ridiculous to suggest he was.

A shame for Semenyo as it was a class finish but justice was served.

He can, it wasn’t a deliberate defensive touch.

It’s irrelevant though as he didn’t stop Thiaaw getting to the ball as he was only interested in grappling Haaland.

Exactly - the only body part of Thiaw's close to the ball was his hand, and that was because it was firmly wrapped round Haaland

Much improved performance in 2nd half.

Trafford crucial save and better distribution
Khus and Max excellent. NOR & Nunes both
excellent til being subbed as on yellow cards.
Bit scrappy last 15 mins both sides could have scored couple of goals. Pleased for Ait-Nouri as
not had best of starts. Cherki deserved a goal.
The VAR decision..well In hindsight that decision has tonight helped galvanise the team to make sure nothing stopped us getting what we fully deserved and probably had the opposite impact Attwell thought it would have had...

I’ve given Bernard’o dogs abuse this season but he rolled the years back tonight, fantastic performance

As soon as the word subjective comes into it you know VAR should not be used as the referees decision on pitch should be the given.
Nothing will convince me otherwise regarding Atwell and his corrupt decision making.
Hope tonight (even though we won is the start of the downfall of that ****.

For me it's the clear and obvious error point yet again. Anything that takes that fucking long isn't clear and obvious and has no place in sport. I've just watched an Ashes series where the technology was fucking shite and decisions were wrong. Scrap it and let the game flow. We will moan and whine all the same but it's not currently being used efficiently or effectively so needs binning.

Why would that take 4 minutes to
Why would that take 4 minutes

But Haaland wasn't interfering with play so it was subjective
Yes it is subjective. But we all knew they would give that against us. Henry Winter respected sports journalist has called var out tonight on this. Saying should not take 4 mins and 2 players jostling each other so how can that be interfering.

Pep and Bernie rightly calling out the officials and var after blatantly trying to rob us again. Like many other Blues I'm fucking sick off it. It's been going on for ten years now and it shows just how good we have been to win so many trophies with the shit we have to put up with.
I'll add to that by saying it's been even worse this season than ever before, and that's a big ask.

I know many talk bad about him (too old, too slow, bad decisions, etc.), but we will miss him very much, when he will leave, he is something special and for me one of the best for City.
This motherfucker was brilliant tonight and also in many other matches this season

Only idiots talk bad of him. Some people only see goals, assists and tackles.

Are we looking at hotels in London in March yet ? Or should I calm down.
My only negative apart from var is Phil having little influence on things again.
Fortunately we have others influencing things further upfront.
Khusanov and Max are impressive they look like they have been playing together all season. CTID
