Wolves (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

One of our old players, Mark Kennedy, who was at the Etihad said that City were poor today, and if we'd played a top six side , we'd have lost ... and although i saw a few things I liked, I kinda agree with his assessment.

We won, which is always the most important thing, and both goals were well taken .... we also hit the woodwork on a couple of occasions .... but we gave the ball away too many times, and the fluency, flair and atmosphere suffered, giving us a pretty dour match overall to watch.

Wolves defensive tactics hardly helped, and one or two of their challenges left a lot to be desired, but Pep's frustration was evident again, as he watched Seminyos shot that canonned off the bar stand as probably our only effort at breaking the 2nd half boredom.

It's three points, and a 'clean sheet' .. but it was hardly entertainment.

On the plus side Guehi had a steady enough debut, and blocked one or two shots ... and Bernardo ran himself into the ground.

Haaland 3 touches, lost possession once. Didn't really get passed to but did absolutely fuck all really. Would have been better putting Mukasa on to give him more rest

All I will say is what a difference it makes for a defender to pick his head up, confidently, and pass. First half for Guehi was impressive as a debut.

None of dilly dallying around, standing on the ball looking to draw out forwards and inviting pressure. No! Look up, bang, deliver it!

That's what I want.

Just afraid the system we play will seep into his game rather than the other way around!!

Foden and Haaland proved why they needed to be dropped and must earn their place in the squad, not just expect it.

Make no mistake about it. We didn't play very well, again.

Though I did love that defensive effort at the end and the ensuing huddle between them. I thought Guehi had a good debut, and hopefully Marmoush's scoring gets him going and ultimately lights a fire under Haaland.
Ffs
Would you have preferred another loss??

A comfortable win.
We started well, with Marmoush and Cherki looking threatening, and Wolves in the utterly irritating pattern of every man behind the ball, with the commentary team lauding any hint of possession rather than actually calling out their non-football.
The defence looked solid, with O'Reilly and Guehi developing a grasp of each other's game.
Semenyo was my MOM - he is a real danger because he appears to need so few opportunities to score.
When Marmoush seemed to tire, we were less threatening, and the Wolves subs, and their need to get back into it, saw them have a little more possession, but we were never in danger in what was, for me, a rather stagnant second half.
The penalty decision could have gone either way but I don't think there will be many City fans who would find it surprising that it wasn't given.
We need to watch the targeting of Doku and make a bit of a fuss in the media about it - VERY bad challenges in the last couple of games could easily have resulted in long-term injury.

Tbh I don't care how City play as long as they win
And after the last 2 disastrous games
I can't believe some of the negativity on here
If you don't like it, go support someone else

Didnt think there was much to complain about until I read a few pages pf the match thread and realised the sky fell in and no-one told me.

3 points, job done, HWIAC, move on to the next one.
It may be full of people who can't be pleased. And others.
Winning 2-0 and still so critical. That's why I gave it a miss today .

What a difference a real defender with speed and fight makes and guess what when you play Mamoush he scores ref was a disgrace

Apparently his first Prem appearance and you drop him into a match with the No. 2 team in league. Anybody that pushes the narrative that City somehow is getting the rub from referees isn't paying attention.

Why does there have to be a negative slant to every city result, why cant it be city steadied the ship after a poor week and if semenyos shot had gone in and we got the penalty it could have been 4 0, why does every ex player and press wanker have to put a negative slant on things?
