Galatasaray (H) | CL | Post-Match Thread

What with the league, FA cup, league Cup and the champions League, I think we're doing okay considering the injuries and amount of games.

Things start to get a bit more serious in the CL now and hopefully we'll be up to it.

RAN needs to play, Nico O needs to play in the CM role too.

Its looking quite decent.

Great at the back but after the second goal/after Doku went off we were absolute pony going forward.
Liked your comments on the beebs alleged match report, db! Haters out in force but a lot of blues as well as leeds fans putting them in their place re gala bellend fans.

I was expecting it to be a little fiesty tonight but our first shut them up. There was a small group sat near us that didn’t say a word until the Kurdish lads ran on the pitch and then they went crazy.
Forgetting the reputation they have I thought they were some of the best Euro away fans we’ve had for a while.
Yep no drums, no ‘capo’s’ dictating a boring robotic chant that i could see, just 3500 nutters

When I got to my seat, I was wary but around me it was mostly the usual seasoncard holders I recognised. There were some other fans I didn't recognise. With all the half and half scarves now it isn't easy to pick people out. I looked around when the Kurds went on the pitch because that would have been a red flag to some Gala fans but no one seemed to be reacting strongly. I saw a flare getting thrown from the 3rd tier of the Gala section into the City end. No doubt there were some Turks in the City end but they didn't create any problems in my block. If they were there they merged quietly in.

The cost of the tighter seat criteria was a low crowd but it did seem to have stopped any mass invasion of the home ends that did happen at Old Trafford.

I saw Gala and City fans walking home together and standing up together in the trams as they went past.

Ait-Nouri's best game for City. I would be wary of him as a defender though. I have him down as good going forward and not so good defending but early days.

Leeds have loads of bellend fans.

'5th home game in January leads to low attendance' shocker.
I think that was partly down to the sales criteria. If you were not a seasoncard holder, you had to have been to 3 City matches. Still not good. Loads of City seasoncard holders do not go to the CL games any more.

Very true but no love lost with the barber's shop XI. I was making the point that after their puff piece on gala and us scraping through, many fans are seeing through the very partial views of their fanzine level reports.

We looked really safe all night on the live table but at the end we were in the hands of the football Gods. If Real Madrid had not had the 2 men sent off, they might have equalised and we'd be in the play-offs. An exciting last day but distracting if you were at the game and difficult to follow your phone and the game. At the final whistle we didn't know if we had qualified as we were still waiting on Benfica 3-2 Real Madrid. When I got in the concourse, Benfica scored a 4th, and that was it.

I am not sure how bothered Real Madrid and PSG are at being in the play offs. City fans would have been gutted but PSG and Real Madrid have such strong squads that I am not sure it matters.

This format is harder. We made it more difficult by fielding a weakened team and then we got hit by injuries at Bodo / Glimt. We conceded a last minute pen. at Monaco. It was amazing that we qualified automatically. With Semenyo and Guehi signing, I think we will be one of the favourites to win it now. Bayern are my favourite. Musiala is back.

The club is to blame... plenty have been saying this was going to happen for quite a while. Treat fans like shite, they will think better of it. Especially in tough financial times for many.

Its come home to roost now. It's a clown show our ticketing strategy!!
True, but plenty also said there would be loads of Gala in the home sections taking the piss. No obvious piss taking where I sit, though it might have been different had they scored.

And I think this is why he's not had the minutes, especially as we lost Rodri and needed a more defensive set up.

Hopefully now Rodri is back and the two Nico are up to date we can use him more.

Him and Doku are going to give many defences a headache with Doku playing inside.

Pretty excited.

I see. Some ridiculous City headlines recently!

The whole aim was to get through , and we did with little drama , now we will have Semenyo,Guehi,Dias,Rodri,Gonzalez and couple of others available for the knock out stages, which gives me confidence we can far in the Champs league. Dont fear any other teams in europe if we have our players available ,and i dont think any teams left in the competition would fancy playing us.

It's not as black and white as that. Even amongst the people I know (a mix of season card members and ad-hoc buyers) , of those who didn't go, most said it was because we are playing boring football recently, in addition to the game wasn't massively important (as it wasn't a true make or break). Others just said they couldn't get a pass out as they'd been to so many home games recently, a few said it was financial. So to just say it's ticket prices I think could miss the point. The last thing the club would want is to reduce prices and then still have non-sellout games, they couldn't go back from that. I think they need to bring in a task force, including fans, to really understand what changes to make. Nothing should be off the cards, ticket prices, allocation of new seats in the NSL3 stand, third party vendors, the lot. Also, we should start playing progressive football again rather than 'pass anywhere but forward'
