Good idea mate.
I pay around £4k per year in home tickets. I would be satisfied if City would have put the last 50 tickets on sale for Liverpool away, instead of the mysterious disappearing act.
That said, I probably wouldn’t have gone anyway cos I dislike Anfield but it would have been nice to have the choice.
Despite my appalling record at Anfield (which includes missing both 81-82 and 02-03) I'll be there next week
This will be my last visit, but then again, I said the same thing last year and the year before that.
Back on topic, and I've just googled "Legacy Fan" as whilst familiar with this relatively modern term, I wasn't exactly sure how it related specifically to City and football
Whilst my first football memories can be traced to the Kick Off Match and Gerald Sinstadt in the late 60s, there would have been middle aged City Fans at St James' Park in 1968 who had also seen us win the league in 1937 and then suffer relegation the following season.
Weirdly, the gap was no different to us being relegated in 1996 under Alan Ball and somebody predicting that we'd win 18 major trophies (and still find something to complain about) in the next 30 years
Of course, the Eric Brook-Tony Coleman generation will all be dead now, but to paraphrase a certain song, we came to take their place.
The issue now is that the new breed of fan will be less inclined to take our place, and just see the Etihad as purely Saturday afternoon entertainment whilst feeling less enthusiasm for lunchtime or midweek kick offs.
This is where the club needs to be flexible and proactive so that the new fans are welcomed without upsetting the traditional local fanbase.
Everything has to start somewhere, but transparent communication and easy accessibility to sensibly priced tickets would be a start.
