Well the run through Signals - Grace - Power Windows has been my favourite of all the Rush albums for a long time, and I was concerned the 40th anniversary reissue series had stalled.
Lo and behold today they’ve announced the overdue (from 2024) p/g package. Which also includes the holy grail of the audio and video of the full tour show (the Toronto Maple Leaf show, only an hour of which was issued originally on VHS, and later, DVD).
Incredible news.
Then I see the cost is $300, which by my reckoning comes out at about £225 (not including delivery across the ocean). It’s not listed as showing on Amazon UK yet, but whichever way you slice it, it seems a lot for 4 cds and one blue ray disc, containing an albeit brilliant show, but one which we’ve already got half of.
I wasn’t surprised at the cost of the tickets for the new tour, but I honestly didn’t expect those prices to now become established norm for physical cds and discs etc.
Am I being unduly curmudgeonly here?
Is £225 are par sort of price for a 5 disc box set type thing?

Edit.
Yep, it’s now on UK Amazon at £306.
Amazing really when the Signals 40th Deluxe is still on sale at about £130.
The band have now posted a track from the newly restored/expanded live disc and it does look and sound amazing, but afraid at this price they are asking I won’t be getting involved, and will have to rely on people uploading songs on YouTube when it’s released.
Yes. I was really, really looking forward to this, but considering I have the official audio and video of 60 mins of that Maple Leaf Gardens show already, this was a step too far for me.The price is ridiculously high. I reckon double what it should be. I refuse to pay that much for it, much as I want it.
I had KISS Alive! Box set for main Xmas present and that was stupid money but you can see the effort that has gone into all the “merch” in the box. I really not got a great interest in the merch but it is KISS and they are the kings of that sort of thing.
I don’t know how they come up with the pricing of some box sets.Yes. I was really, really looking forward to this, but considering I have the official audio and video of 60 mins of that Maple Leaf Gardens show already, this was a step too far for me.
Ditto!I don’t know how they come up with the pricing of some box sets.
I have a load of Rush live stuff that someone who used to post on here but got banned sent me so may well have something from that tour.
I’m hoping they have overpriced it and sales are poor so that they have to cut price to shift them!
It’s maybe not the best comparison as it is is perhaps the most overblown album ever but Yes have just released a box set of Topographic Oceans and it is into double figures on discs but price is not much over £100. Not sure I want that much TO but it is week priced; as is the upcoming Rainbow early days box.Ditto!
Or at the very least they see sense when it gets to Power Windows.
Good move. The Grace box set looks really good after the disappointing Signals one but the pricing is incredibly high. Compare this with The Police Sychronicity box set from last year which cost around 70% cheaper. I'll wait a while until the price drops like the Rush 50 one just did last month. Got it for £65.
Yes indeed. The book is great as they usually are in the box sets. Really looking forward to Terry Brown's remix of Grace. That's the main event for me on this forthcoming box set.Good move.
I died buy Rush 50 although it was a bit pricey, the book is very good though.
Will be if I can get a ticket. Slightly concerned what the cost might be, as suspect more than I paid the last time!Rush UK tour announced for 2027. 12th March Co-op live. Happy days!
Yeah I really hope they're not as expensive as the north American leg prices as they were ridiculous tbhWill be if I can get a ticket. Slightly concerned what the cost might be, as suspect more than I paid the last time!
I think the US is a different market price wise but we shall see. US prices were crazy.Yeah I really hope they're not as expensive as the north American leg prices as they were ridiculous tbh

At their age, they'll need gaps! I'm glad it's a Friday night so I don't have to get up the following morning and I'll just be sitting there.I think the US is a different market price wise but we shall see. US prices were crazy.
I just hope I can get tickets. I expect demand will be high. Hopefully, they will add dates if it is: there are gaps in the schedule even assuming that they will not do consecutive nights.
They've played the MEN arena 3 times I think since it was built. 40th anniversary, snakes and arrows (got front row centre floor seat for that one) and clockwork angels tours. At their age, they'll need gaps! Hopefully, most fans will be of an age where they can't be arsed travelling which should keep enough seats available for us locals. Not sure when they last played Manchester (early 80s?) but I've never seen them here.

I need to get on better mailing lists! Went to the NEC around 88(?) for the shows that were used on A Show of Hands. Also saw them at some point after that at Don Valley arena but had never spotted gigs in Manchester. There's some live bits from the Apollo around 1980 and just assud they'd chosen arenas since with less Europe as they got older. They've played the MEN arena 3 times I think since it was built. 40th anniversary, snakes and arrows (got front row centre floor seat for that one) and clockwork angels tours.
