I agree O'Reilly ran the midfield 1st half. Thought it was his 'coming of age' game. Are you blind? He was magnificent

A blatant dive with no contact at all!Yep, they never showed the foul again that led to their free kick goal, i thought it looked very soft
They are always gonna stick to the rules even if VAR isn't around ... the ref sees the ball enter the net, but he's also seen two fouls just before it did, one from each side, so even though he may initially have handed Haaland the advantage, he then sees the Liverpool player pushed to the floor by Haaland, possibly denying him the chance to clear it .... so he was never gonna give the goal.I’ll be controversial and say Haaland was MOTM. Imagine the resilience and maturity to slot that penalty into the net against a world class keeper diving the right way at Anfield, a place we haven’t won at in front of the scouser scum fans since 2003. All or nothing in extra time. Furthermore, it’s our first double against them since 1936/1937. Add to that, it was a crucial 3 points, we were a goal down and Haaland assisted Bernardo’s goal.
Having said that, Bernardo deserved the accolades too.
We should have been awarded that 3rd goal though. VAR is destroying the passion of the sport.
He was truly, but did you notice that he was injured after the lino did not put his flag up for offside. Somebody's carrear will be finished by this rule.I am liking the options we have got at CB. Dias played well when he came on and Khus was terrific. Guehi, Dias, Khus, Guardiol is really strong. I think Ake and John will go this summer as will Bernie and he will be a big big miss. Still think the attacking midfield needs work. Cherki is a fantastic skill and is learning all the time about the PL. There is a player in Reijnders but he will need time. Phil? He is working hard but not reaching his best. I do think we need a couple more this summer we will be there.
But the ref did give it and only changed the decision on advice of Var by the looks of itThey are always gonna stick to the rules even if VAR isn't around ... the ref sees the ball enter the net, but he's also seen two fouls just before it did, one from each side, so even though he may initially have handed Haaland the advantage, he then sees the Liverpool player pushed to the floor by Haaland, possibly denying him the chance to clear it .... so he was never gonna give the goal.
I’ll have to watch it again but the ref gave it as a goal. It was VAR that overturned it after the ref was called to the monitor. So it is not accurate to say the ref wouldn’t have given it if VAR wasn’t around. They are always gonna stick to the rules even if VAR isn't around ... the ref sees the ball enter the net, but he's also seen two fouls just before it did, one from each side, so even though he may initially have handed Haaland the advantage, he then sees the Liverpool player pushed to the floor by Haaland, possibly denying him the chance to clear it .... so he was never gonna give the goal.
I quite liked Slott when he first came to Pool. Calm on the touchline, no histrionics. Its a shame he has gone full Klopp now. Must be something in the air off the Mersey.
He just made the most of any slight contact, they're all it now ..... every time a player falls on his arse now, even with minimal contact, the first thing they do is throw their arms in the air, and stare or shout at the referee.A blatant dive with no contact at all!
Agree on this,I believe Haaland should have rightly gone down after that stupid shirt pulling so the outcome is one of two, the ball has crossed the line already and we awarded goal or he rewarded a foul outside the box in a great spot and the scouser would have still been sent off.I have moaned about VAR plenty of times but I think it was spot on for the 'third' goal.
If Haaland hadn't had pulled the dipper back the dipper would have cleared it. So Haaland is stopping a goal clearing chance.
VAR then had to go back to the first foul of the dipper stopping Haaland a clear goal scoring chance.
How won I feel if it was 1-1 at the time ? Kin annoyed.
VAR only sent the ref to the monitor amidst all the confusion .. it was the ref who took their advice and made the decision, and he did it pretty fast too.I’ll have to watch it again but the ref gave it as a goal. It was VAR that overturned it after the ref was called to the monitor. So it is not accurate to say the ref wouldn’t have given it if VAR wasn’t around.
Your hypothetical is farcical. There are a dozen websites or podcasts that can explain the ruling. It’s a correct decision based on the laws.So if the same situation happened 4 times in one game.
We get 4 red cards and a 0-0 draw. Thats how farcical it is.
The whole point of football is to score a goal. Ruling them out to give a red card is not.
If every breach caused a stoppage, no game would ever end. The ref’s discretion keeps the show on the road. A good ref knows what to ignore.Rules are rules. One of the biggest problems in football is officials bending the rules to suit their agenda.
If Haaland had of gone down would the Liverpool player, who would have remained on his feet, have cleared the ball ??Agree on this,I believe Haaland should have rightly gone down after that stupid shirt pulling so the outcome is one of two, the ball has crossed the line already and we awarded goal or he rewarded a foul outside the box in a great spot and the scouser would have still been sent off.
Yep, the consistency is irritating ...... Dalot doesn't get sent off for what looked like a really poor foul on Doku .... and in the following home match a Spurs player gets sent off at United for doing a similar thing,If every breach caused a stoppage, no game would ever end. The ref’s discretion keeps the show on the road. A good ref knows what to ignore.
Ref’s discretion is exactly for this sort of situation. ignore the tussle and give the goal. Shirt pulling is endemic.Actually I think you have to make that call because Haaland definitely fouled Slob also. You can’t just ignore the red card offense and give a goal.
