Is the league, for want of a better word, ‘bent’?

For me There's a clear link between what the pundits highlight and what the sports media report or highlight following a live game.

Neville kicked off the whole conversation about ferny doing snidey fouls which then became a media beating stick for us.
He does the opposite about upcoming utd players, telling the listeners Mainoo should be playing for England, or how good Amad is. That's all very good business for utd.

Both carragher and neville have very loud voices for their clubs, sometimes it's good most times it's bad for their club because fortunately they have got a scooby about football. It shocks me how little they know.
But they have influence.
Spot on

But the same can be said about the other broadcasters who pay the PL an absolute fortune for their licence to show live games. None of the "1 Billion" worldwide Rag's fans are going to be tuning in to watch them get beat every week.

I don't think that lot come into it that much any more. The main thing the PL sells is uncertainty, a chance that 'anyone' could win it (thanks Leicester). No other big league has the perception of 4 or 5 teams that can win it, however accurate that is. The PL lives for close finishes. While it would love a "redemption arc" for united, it's more desperate for another Aguero moment.

I expect to some extent they've realised that viewing figures haven't gone down while united have been shit, partly because the biggest figures they get tend to be our games.

This is very true.

It's why shit decisions against us get brushed under the carpet and forgotten when they could/should be big news.

In turn, this probably makes refs less worried about giving decisions against us, because it just doesn't end up causing a massive headache for them.

Influence results for the so called bugger clubs.
Especially that show the rag **** supports
Well if you are right, they’re not doing a very good job, unless you are referring to us as the bigger club and the success they’ve given us, if your theory is right? I don’t recall the rags doing much at all of late.

Also, ask the rags and they loathe Neville and think he is anti that club more than anything. They despise him.

They're doing a good job of getting the rags into the top four.
And allow arsenal to foul and push at every corner

Absolutely.correct.
They know late winners are big news, and have been ever simce Fuckhead, sorry, Fergie Time. And they're not wrong either. For example, both the Guardian and the Mail had srperate columns devoted to the timeline of yesterday's dying minutes at Anfield.

Hence the routine (dare I say, mandated) addition of roughly ten minutes extra time to every single game. Last year, when the practise was introdiced, they even shamelessly wittered on about "this being the league for late goals".
Why wouldn't it be? Ten extra minutes after 90 played, often in dreadful weather, in the most competitive league in football? Something's got to give. Tiring legs and minds, late in the game, do lead to goals and therefore twists and turns and uncertainty in "the narrative"..

Whether that's the best thing for the sport and those employed to play it, seems to be a question that's been entirely smothered of oxygen. Or perhaps more accurately, sacrificed at the altar of entertainment - and ultimately, broadcasting revenue.
Never mind, player welfare.feel the excitememt.

I wouldn't actually say it's bent, but would say it's 'tweaked'.

Naive maybe, but I think the individual refs are actually okay. They do their best and try to be fair.

If it was bent against us, Pawson (who wasn't great) wouldn't have given us an injury time penalty. Could easily have hid behind the ball going out, but didn't.

But I do believe that in line with the PL 'strategy' to have different winners, they give the refs directives to help achieve that.

So, ref fairly, but "let's not have unnecessary red cards early in games". If you think City are going to run away with it, "let teams battle and be physical without punishment". Plus, if you want Arsenal to get over the line, then let them do whatever they want at lineouts, sorry setpieces.

I don't think the PL are necessarily against City. They dont mind if we win it, as long as it's a great title race. It's all about the viewers and the money! But it's been us and Liverpool too long, so Arsenal's strengths, which could easily have been clamped down on, are let go.
Dramatized sport, like sport but with added drama.

If you say so, but what about the new manger bounce people moan about? Is that not a thing now? It was when carrick was appointed.

And are they only doing a good job this season? Not the last 13 seasons despite the sane shite being said throughout?

Money and being a powerful part of the theatre.
He’s loaded. A multi millionaire. He’s also a laughing stock who nobody takes seriously.

You’re a good poster. I’m surprised you think Gary Neville influences anything other than what Phillip listens to when they share a bunk.

And the theatre? The one we own?

Each to their own mate but if you can’t read how much of a power hungry little bitch he is I don’t know what else to say.

He had 20 years of doing what he wanted, getting his own way, being used to power and being “important” playing for those cunts. He fucking loves it.

Throws his two penneth in re politics, is involved in that big redevelopment of Manchester. The other week he even popped up on Dragon’s Den to show everyone how important and clever he is.

He’s a little **** and he 100% influences those VAR decisions.

All you’ve done is put your opinion about Neville. We all think that too, in terms of what a **** he is.

He has no influence on the game. Why would he?! Do you think Sky and its bosses bow down to Gary fucking Neville?! Come on.

Also, what influence? He’s a die hard rag. They’ve done nothing in the league for years. So what, and who is he influencing for?

For the PL. The same cunts who are in cahoots with Sky. The same set of cunts who “have a strategic plan to put a new name on the trophy every 6 years”. It’s all linked. Come on mate ffs it’s not that hard this.

We’ve won most of them since that.

If United had won that much since that statement then I couldn’t argue, but they’ve been mid table. By your reckoning, we’ve benefited from it.

And on the flip side, a decision going our way or against one of the redshirts gets analysed endlessly. Its only human nature for a ref to take the easy option on a 50/50 or 60/40 when they know taking the right option will affect their reputation and career.

Influence on who? Mike and Bob, the Stoke fans on Facebook saying Fernandinho is a snide? Do me a favour. If you think grown, professional referees are influenced by Gary Neville saying such things, you are naive. Gary Neville has no influence on anyone or anything. People can’t stand him and think he’s a joke with his shrieks and winy voice.

He couldn’t influence a choir boy.
You can’t say he has no influence and everyone thinks he’s a joke when millions of people are listening to his droning 3x a week during the national sport.

Stop digging mate. Please.

I can. He’s a commentator for the telly.

Insert some incident here.

Ref: what we thinking, VAR?

VAR: hang on, we’re waiting to see what Gal thinks.

Ref: he’s not on tonight, he’s at home wanking Phil off.

VAR: err, fuck. Cut to black.

If I thought for one second Gary fucking Neville, someone regularly bullied on the pitch and who people look at as some comics figure, was influential in any kind of refereeing decision from the gantry, i would fuck the PL off immediately and start watching my local non-league team, because what would be the point?

Given you still watch the PL, are you suggesting there is no influence or corruption from anybody then?

If it wasn't for the match fixing and help they would have been relegated.
They won the fa cup semi final through it.which got them into Europe for a season
