PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

My wfe subscribed to a channel which had them all on and I rewatched some of them. The acting is appalling and at times it is unbelievably dated. There's one of the early ones when Benny is getting racially abused but turns out to be reall good at football. It gets to the last scene and Bullet Baxter gives him a sort of speech which says "Well you can't help being black but at least you're good at football" and that's the key takeaway.
Yeah, when watching it as kids I don't think any of us realised how bad the acting was. I think the storylines were what made it. They weren't afraid to tackle issues such as racism, bullying, drug taking, and shoplifting but there was also a lot of humour in there too and some great characters. Even when the more serious issues weren't part of the story, most episodes ended on a cliffhanger of some sort which got you looking forward to the next episode.

Liverpool v City has been the most massive, high quality, intense battle between two PL teams that there's ever been in this country.

Our partisan sports media missed it all, while the rest of the world watched in awe. Sort of typical from our childish media

This is from the APT judgment

“The PL is the most watched football league in the world, averaging over 600 million viewers per match compared to around 7.5 million viewers for La Liga, the second most viewed league. In the 2019/20 season the PL had a cumulative global audience of 3.16 billion, nearly double that of the next two most watched leagues in Europe, the Bundesliga and La Liga. The PL has a uniquely global fan base. In the 2019/20 season, 42 of the top 50 global audiences for European domestic league matches were for PL matches with the PL reaching the largest audiences in China, India, and the US. This international appeal is reflected in the fact that the PL’s overseas broadcast rights have consistently exceeded the combined total of the other five big European leagues.”

As I wrote it was a bit of a look so if I'm talking tosh happy to be corrected. I saw the 600M figure quoted extensively and on the basis that equates to 1 in 14 people on the planet watching simultaneously I was a bit sceptical. I assumed for it to be correct it would have to be China and India doing the majority of the heavy lifting so went looking for specific figures for those markets. When I looked everything seemed to be couched in terms of 'reach' or 'available to' or 'engaged' with. So I concluded that must include people watching highlights etc on various platforms. Then the couple of sites that did explicitly state live viewing had the lower number so I went with those. Quite possibly flawed logic on my part I accept.

Tbf either way my underlying point was that even with those lower numbers the PL is a significantly bigger IP than the NFL. I don't know why US sports fans make such a big thing about the global reach of the Superbowl because by some margin their biggest sporting export is the NBA.

No I think you may have a point about comparing apples and pears. but I think it’s likely the Americans are using the same metric. Why wouldn’t they?

Even if you are comparing reach vs actual figures there is a very big imbalance. Id sooner have 10 apples than 1 pear,

I seem to remember one of the early derbies ( vinny header/monday night live) was booked to have been watched by 150m more than the recent wcf ( 500m) and only surpassed tv wise by princess diana's wedding 750m

I’ve got a mate whose nickname is Zammo! I’ll let you guess the reason why…

Depends on the pair…

They are both but as yet only the FA have charged them

An FA statement said: "The Football Association has today charged Chelsea FC with breaches of Regulations J1 and C2 of The FA Football Agents Regulations, Regulations A2 and A3 of The FA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries, and Regulations A1 and B3 of The FA Third Party Investment in Players Regulations.

"In total, 74 charges have been brought against Chelsea FC. The conduct that is the subject of the charges ranges from 2009 to 2022 and primarily relates to events which occurred between the 2010/11 to 2015/16 playing seasons."
I don’t know what these charges exactly entail but I’m guessing they carry huge fines. Maybe the PL are waiting to see the outcome.

So what's the best guess on which colonised planet the verdict will eventually be delivered from? Mars is the obvious shout but I think it's possible we'll have found somewhere more to our liking by then.

Wouldn’t go as far as that the first paragraph makes sense I’d say that may not be far from what is/could happen, the rest well it’s just fantasy..although that doesn’t mean that we’ve been stitched up in games ..
If our owners want the PL to continue they will have to make concessions that allow it to function otherwise we kill the golden egg.

This assumes of course we win.
The reverse is true for a PL win where we would be inundated with fines, demotions and legal accusations from affected Clubs.
