1 | James Trafford - 2025/26

oh dear. had a social media hiatus recently - just seen this story now. Really silly move to air his grievances publicly and like others have said, give the media another stick to beat us with. Understand the move hasnt panned out to his preference, and he might have a valid point, but keep stuff like this in house. Really poor and naive of him here.

I think he clearly wants a permanent move away while trying to knock the asking price down and the possibility of playing in 2 cup finals doesn't look enough to appease him.

I doubt Trafford will agree to any future buyback clause when hes sold and hes almost asking for Pep to start Donnarumma in any Wembley fixtures if he continues with his blatantly obvious unhappy demeanour.

I understand why he might want to move, but if his head’s elsewhere, I wouldn’t fully trust him in big games. Mentality matters too much at that level.

To be fair he was just answering a question in an interview, he didn't put out a comment on social media or anything. He hasn't blamed anyone or downed tools.

Trafford wouldn't have any say on a buyback clause anyway, it would be the buying club who agree to it. He will be sold in the summer and never play for us again.

Every great team needs two great keepers - he's under contract and unless we find someone as good or better he'll stay here for sure.
But Pep doesn't like having a squad where anyone is left out and says he doesn't want unhappy players, so I doubt we will keep him. I think he will push to move in the summer and there will be good offers for him and us.

A bit shit for him that the club moved for Donna after signing him but it is what it is. He’s paid a fortune and will get a move if he wants one.

Hard to get too worked up about it.
You serious? We didn't owe him anything and we signed the best in the business

Traffird was a decent keeper for the England under 23's or whatever theyre called and for Burnley in the championship. When they got promoted he was generally awful so they had to drop him.
It's obvious he has lots of potential but in his first couple of games here he wasn't great and cost us at home to Spurs, although everybody else was poor too. He looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights and not physically big enough.
I'm sure the plan was for him to play understudy to Ederson for a year or two then take over. Ederson leaving and then Donnarumma becoming available changed everything. We couldn't turn down the chance of signing the best keeper in world football. Tough on Trafford but elite sport is like that.

In our cup games he has redeemed himself, especially at Newcastle away. He is still only 23 and i think as he matures and fills out a bit he will eventually be world class, but sadly he probably won't be here then. My worry is how long will Donnarumma stay here? Courtois is 33 at Madrid and when he retires i could see them making a move for Donnarumma and i fear he will be tempted if they do.

If we got 4/5 years out of him I'd be happy with that. This club has form for talking big players into staying longer than they may have anticipated so could be longer.

I just don't get why people care about the personal effect it's had on him. Some players get endless sympathy and others seemingly dont

I am sure the club will do their best to find a solution for Trafford and the team.

Fans are more detached in their perspectives, and therefore can be extreme in their opinions imo.

Players are people in real life .

It would be hilarious (ok not hilarious) if we find ourselves in the position of needing to sign two goalies again.

Sources close to Sam Lee understand he's a know nowt rag twat with a massive forehead. Sam Lee to Turkey for hair implants LETS LAUNCH
The hate Sam Lee gets on here is really uncalled for. He annoyed me with the Aguero shit stirring but that was a long time ago now.

The podcast he does with David Mooney is great, arguably better than 9320 now.

And his raggish days are long behind him. He’s a bigger Bert than most on here these days.

In a media full of hateful cunts, Sam is one of the few fighting our corner.

Anyone who doesn’t say singer coated good things about players becomes rag

People here exceed media to toe to their line of views - won’t happen
