North Stand Construction Discussion

What a crock of shite.

Deary me!

The South stand doesn’t create an atmosphere. Lol!

Anyone apart from the South stand struggles to hear them. Lol!

You need to go and get you hearing tested on a Monday.

While you’re at it, get your eyes tested as well.

I sit in the CB level 2 near to the south Stand and I really don’t think the South stand creates much of an atmosphere-I really don’t. I’m not saying they don’t make noise but you can’t really hear them. The atmosphere in the ground - safe for a few exceptions is generally pretty subdued. Away games are 10 x better than home games for atmosphere.

Really? Rare if ever heard, same old dull songs, we have a strong connection with the most popular band going right now but not an effort to use their anthems! Extremely poor

That's strange. I was sat in ESL3 against Salford City and I could clearly hear SSL1 even with a smaller crowd and not much to chant about during a poor game. I've also heard SSL1 when I've sat in ESL3. Maybe you mean from SSL3 only?

I've stood in blocks 111, 110, 109, and 115, SSL1 and I can tell you all those blocks and SSL1 have started and created fantastic atmospheres since we've moved to the Etihad.

I’m in 101, genuinely the noise does not carry, tbf it does carry from tier 3 when away fans are there.

It depends on what you define as creating an atmosphere. That's down to your own interpretation of that.

Again, I can only go off my experiences when I sit in other parts of the ground. I've always heard SSL1.

I'm not saying the singing, noise, and atmosphere is constant for 90 minutes because it isn't. But for the big games, and when SSL1 gets going properly, it does create a good atmosphere, which spreads to other stands.

Saying that, show me a stand or tier at another PL club that creates a constant atmosphere and sings for 90 minutes. There isn't one.

It's not because I stand on SSL1, but I think we're too critical of SSL1 as a singing section. Has the support and atmosphere got worse from SSL1 over the last few seasons, yes it has. I can't argue or deny that. Playing Devil's Advocate, and being honest. Hopefully with 2 singing ends, SSL1 will get back to what it used to be like?

It definitely carries better from the 3rd tier, away fans and home fans in the South stand. Whether that means there are more fans joining in or it’s just acoustics I have no idea. If the North stand acoustics do match up with the proposed plans though it should have both better acoustics and more fans in the same tier.

I wear hearing aids and you can hardly hear the South Stand in 101 (001)

Between their positioning, their difference in head height to the sky bar above, and the concrete upstand, those (bedroom) vip suites are barely visible. And I've thought that for a while as it has taken shape. I guess lights on will make some difference but even then, I think they'll be lost to the skybar.

Sorry don’t really understand your concern , surely it’s the view from the 10 or so outside seats per suite that matters , and until we see that I’ll reserve judgement :-)

I looked tonight and although they look different to the existing speakers, they are definitely speakers and not mechanised tifo apparatus
Looking at previous cgi’s there appears to be a latticework frame that is to be fitted for support to the “tifo” banners . In my mind these and the overhanging section of the roofwalk can only be craned in from pitchside ?? Maybe I’ll be proved completely wrong ??

I appreciate this will have probably been covered already in this thread but walking to the ground yesterday I was wondering if the hotel would have any reserved parking spaces set aside for the people staying in there? Obviously last night was a bit of an exception with there being a match, a concert and a good swathe of the blue car park taken up by the tents being set up for the Brit Awards (I'm assuming that's what they were for anyway) but take another 50+ spaces guaranteed for the hotel and that's even more pressure on the already full car parks round the ground.

It wasn't a concern in the slightest. It was just an observation. If anything, arguably a slight positive, in that the 'true' corporate just looks like one top block.

The car parking is being expanded later. Of course.
