Dave Watson has neurodegenerative disease

It's just come up on my Facebook page that Dave's wife Penny has been awarded an MBE for her work in regards
to dementia etc.( I have Dave Watson as a Facebook friend).
Well done to Penny and Dave, you are an inspiration to us all.
Yes I think Jeff Astle's daughter got a gong too for the same thing.

Blimey, that’s emotional, I was there that day as a 17 year old, DW was a proper player, one of the best headers of a ball which is a cruel fait accompli, he’s got the love of a wonderful woman in Penny, life can be so bloody tough, make the most of it.
He was a world-class centre half who would have got in any team in his heyday. One, if not our best ever, defenders of all time.

So sad. Thanks for the memories Dave. Fabulous centre half, brave with the heart of a lion. Dementia is a bastard disease.

Watching the 1976 league cup final stuff on the screens definitely brought a tear to my eyes.

Tueart and Barnes being interviewed was class. (Barnesy give us a speech)

The 2 - 1 result yesterday was brilliant too.
A pal of mine was out with Peter Barnes a couple of weeks ago, it was the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 76 where he lost it, that chant was cruel!!
