Denton and Gorton by-election - Green Party wins

Any stretch of coastline is viable, within reason, but the technology needs streamlining. As of now, the degradation costs are too prohibitive, factor in the comparative simplicity of wind and solar, and most engineering companies still see tidal as vanity projects. Once the technology is streamlined, we're laughing, because the output will be far greater than other renewables.
Hopefully that tipping point comes soon.

In the meantime, we need to keep upping our capacity to store excess electricity so that we’re ready when we can create cheap renewable energy.

at the point where he says Keir Starmer sounds like a robot he sounds like a robot himself - losing

I live in Denton and put my Labour poster in my front window Saturday morning.
Since then ive had no leaflets posted through and not a single ring of the doorbell. My dogs are chilling out again it was crazy before then.
Been over a week since putting up my Labour poster in the front window.
And not a single knock on the door or ringing of my doorbell.
And only one leaflet pushed through my letterbox there was a atleast a dozen a week before the poster going on display.

Its worth knowing the only way to Chagos is by boat - a 6 day journey each way from Mauritius - Farage has no intention in being around when Goodwin crashes and burns
Well, no, it's also possible to get there by military aircraft.
But there's no way the UK would fly him in that way, so he'd have to be matey with someone pretty high up in the US government.

Oh.

..... if only they'd listened and established what the electorate wanted and needed before introducing the senseless policies that they've had to reverse and do major U turns on.... bad management and even worse politics. They've gone too far to be able to turn back.

They are fulfilling the commitments outlined in the manifesto. They were elected on the basis of their proposals

Is net zero not Labour policy?

The Climate Change Act was originally introduced in 2008 by Ed Miliband and amended in 2019 by the Conservatives under May. (The 2050 Target Amendment) this introduced a legally binding ''NET ZERO'' target for all greenhouse gas emissions in the UK (Made the UK the first major economy to set a legally binding net zero target.

So no ''Net Zero'' was not a Labour policy (neither are the introduction of ULEZ zones which were first conceived in 2014 and introduced in 2019 ) despite what the Tories and social media tell you.

Staggering how pig ignorant Tories are of their own policies.

If you've indicated you're voting Labour you're not likely to be called till voting day to check you've voted. They'll be knocking on the undecided households.

Yes, Tory legislation but official Labour Policy and currently being revised in the light of changing circumstances.

No one’s rung my doorbell for weeks although that could be more to do with it needing a new battery.

Agreed but the war in Ukraine has changed things but Labour are still moving towards a British Owned Energy company and running off renewables as soon as possible (and still aiming for Net Zero by 2050 - to do otherwise would require a change in legislation ) This may mean that the 2030 ''renewables'' is missed and under discussion is the development of the Rosebank Oil Field in the North Sea.

From another thread I pointed out that the Royal Family are charging for rental of land from the sea floor and are due to earn 2% of the profit made once the wind farms go online (although in his defence Charles has now given up charging rental on 6 new wind farms whilst they are being built)

They only made £1.1 billion from wind farms in 2024.
