North Stand Construction Discussion

It is taking a very long time to put the seats in at the top and bottom of the stand.
They had scaffolding at the top for several months before the last lot of seats were put in.. Seats are taken out for more or less an entire block when they have brit pop and soft rock concerts at the stadium and put back in a couple of days, so not a big issue.

Could someone explain to me the rationale behind the black seats in a sea of pale blue ??

Thought you had the smarts to automatically know ;)

They don’t stand out as much when people are still wining and dining.

Should be able to request your colour for each game for 12 grand a seat per season.
I assume ( as with the other premium bars ) you can buy a season ticket ( or whatever they are called ) or game by game ? Have priced been released yet ? If so how do prices compare and what’s included ??

Isn't that the Pitch View boxes (10 or 12 of them with up to 12 people in each). I think a figure was published of around £128,000 per season, although writing that figure out makes me wonder if I imagined it :(

I would definitely have one if I win the euro millions:)

I would doubt that, not for additional parking. Not because I don't believe the club would have a plan that isn't public, but because everything over the last few years has been geared to less parking and this scheme further so.
I'd argue their plan involves an extra bus or two. Three at most.

Whatever happened to extra Metrolink capacity?! A loop up Ashton New Road or Bradford Road could revitalise the area and have a straight through option to town from what is arguably a massive entertainment area in East Manchester. The logistics and time frame are always poor, but City, Manchester City Council, etc all have a vested interest to enhance what is available and be ambitious in ensuring a growing capacity can actually get there and back without delay.

I’ve read that margins on large arena projects are typically no more than 2–5%, so fixed-price contracts are very risky.
That is 2-5% on turnover.

Profit in construction is best assessed on capital provided rather on turnover. Half of the cost of a typical construction project is accounted for by materials and another quarter or more (maybe?) by subcontractors and by plant hired companies.

The contractor will normally be paid monthly based on proportion of the project completed and will not usually pay the suppliers, subcontractors, and plant hirers until after they have received the cash from the client.

That 2-5% margin on turnover could end up as 25-30% or more as return on cash invested.

All this has little to do with the margins on fixed price or fluctuations contracts provided that the rate of inflation is low or predictable.

Leeds United is one of the worst grounds in the country but their bus shuttle is fantastic. They essentially have a bus depot next to the stadium with a continous constantly moving queue of shuttle buses which whisk you back into central Leeds on bus lanes (almost 3 miles away) in about 15 minutes. There are scores of buses involved. Why can't we do this? We still don't even have a proper taxi rank for our stadium or Co-op Live. Transport is laughable at the Etihad.

Not enough drivers.

Putting a taxi rank on the Etihad Campus would make the already bad traffic after the match even worse. It would take cars longer to get out of the car parks. The amount of taxis queuing up would be horrendous. The taxis used to park up along Ashton New Road. They did u-turns on the road whilst thousands of fans were walking back to town. The taxis were driving through the fans. MCC banned taxis from stopping there. I’ve noticed the taxis are now parking up outside Mary D’s.

It depends where you put it. They manage to do it in other countries and cities with no problems. The last place for any rank would be on Ashton new Road. We need more buses, more bus lanes, easy access to taxis. Co-op live is shit for transport as well. It’s a disgrace and Burnham was repeatedly warned and did nothing. All talk no action as usual.

They have a single decker acting as a ticket office and it's £5 return, nearly did it with a Leeds friend I was with but uber came through and got us to the ground in minutes at just before 5. Like you say unbelievable why we (Burnham) can't do it!
