Will we win the league this season? No

I still think Arsenal will win it. Just.

But to have improved this much from last season where we're in with a sniff of winning the league and still in all 4 comps is brilliant. Everyone said we were done last season, end of the road. Peps finished etc.

To me it looks like the beginning of an exciting new era.

I think fixture list gazing is pretty pointless at this stage of the season. Did anybody expect Arsenal to drop points in previous title races to Southampton, Bournemouth, West Ham? No, but they did. This league is one where any team can beat any other. If not for a couple of miracles (called Aguero and De Bruyne) we would've found that out for ourselves in 2012 and 2022.

I would say we're at roughly 30% odds of winning it at the moment. Arsenal still favourites, but while we can still say "win all of our games and there's nothing Arsenal can do about it" then I'll still think there's a chance. This City team always has me believing the impossible is possible.

If, when all is said and done, we fall short and come 2nd, you know I wouldn't be that upset. Great improvement on last year, very young team, deep in four competitions, a year when everybody wrote us off as "rebuilding". Bodes very well for the future.
I would be ecstatic if we just won one trophy this year. It would be a job well done in a rebuild year.

It was the start of the 2016 season. Sterling gave one away for lightly holding whilst not looking at the ball :).
Like all Premier League initiatives it lasted a fortnight.
There were complaints from the clubs, I think, and the league didn't have the balls to stick with it.

They should have given it a full month - see a couple of games end 9 against 9 - then it would have sunk in.

A player holding another in a vice-like grip without even looking for the ball is not football. Rice could have been booked 6 times or more today.

I don’t know how anyone can look at the way arsenal are playing right now and make comments like ‘oh we’re going to have win all our games’

They will drop points at minimum 3 more times guaranteed
Tells people not to make predictions then says “They will drop points at minimum 3 more times guaranteed”.

You made more sense when you were kicking fuck out of wingers Danny.

Agree with all that apart from the bold.

United had 20 years of big game experience in 11-12 and every day we'd have Carrick/Scholes/Rooney/Giggs reminding us that City had never faced this type of pressure

Didn't stop them from losing at Wigan or conceding late goals at home to Everton.

Similarly, we exited the CL after losing to Lyon and English clubs who finished below us in the PL, but then did the treble via the most difficult route possible

No point in looking beyond the next game
Otherwise we'd all be winning thousands every week at the bookies
Most sensible post on the thread.

I just think after recent decisions in games that it’s just being set up now for an arsenal win,how can the 2 pens for Chelsea be explained away the spurs goal ruled out to make it 2-2 last week with the push, the solanke kick on Guehi in our game with spurs, either we have the most incompetent refs/officals in football or something more sinister is going on ..

When you look at that penalty for United today, how on earth is that classed as a penalty, and yet you see every single player doing a lot worse at every single corner?

Not even just an Arsenal thing, I just dont understand why you can get away with it just because its a corner

If you slow down every corner, there are 'fouls' on almost every player, and yet the only fouls given are for the defending team
And red shirts

They will 100% bottle it against an 'average' team as the pressure will get even higher from here and their shit stain of a club won't be able to cope with it like is the case every year

They hung on for a win but a totally unconvincing performance today. If we can just keep knocking on that door it will fall off its rusty hinges.

I'd rather they just dropped the points in these games.

Agree, look at the holding on corners again, the one before chavs scored was TWO fkin pens from Rice holding and then off his arm Feel we needed Chelsea to get something y/day and they didn’t We keep going an you never know but these Cnuts are getting everything at the mo

I don’t think Arsenal are bottling it despite all the media going berserk every time they drop a point.

It’s clear now that it’s a two horse race and both teams believe they can win it. Any points dropped by either side are unlikely to be because they have lost their bottle but more a team has underperformed or been unlucky for that particular game.

Both teams will drop points at some stage. If it’s a draw at our place that’s true immediately!

The Arsenal collapse hasn't happened yet and may not. Neither has ours.

Right now I have Arsenal still winning by around 5 points but a while ago I thought it would be nearer 10 so what do I know! A lot can and will happen so enjoy the ride and keep everything crossed because, if we do it, the meltdown from Arsenal will be unprecedented.

Arsenal are getting panicky in games (see Wolves). Against Chelsea, they were saved by Neto's sending off. Unfortunately, loss of nerve does not affect their set-piece play.
