Nottingham Forest (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Foden Cherki silva all about not given the ball away they all slow the play down which is great at 2 up! When it’s not 2 up we should be playing 1/2 touch football move faster quicker intent! Last 10 mins we did that! Seems it’s all about control which is great at 2 up!

Think we saw the 0-1 at Leeds because we couldn’t keep the ball which meant we had plenty in the box defending deep! There goals came from transition last night!

Why have Foden, Cherki and Bernie started doing this ?
Pre Sunderland game these were flying, fast one touch football, scoring, smiling not scared to take a chance. Now as you say they seem scared of their own shadows. You see a few bright moments then they seem to remember and go back into their shell. It's very odd.

whats city standards we used to be shit and sign shit
its like west ham fans going on about west ham way
rag DNA
i could go on we've had some great player over last 15 years but few were world class when bought they all had great fooball skills but most had been rejected somewhere along way yaya KDB i could go on so whats our standard ? these now are all young players with odd olden and ive read many posts benardo is slow past it move him on.
yes weve been restricted on signings buying football cheque book manager rules to stop us restriction on trading net spend biggest load of shite from mardarses
City are now an elite club by every metric and aspire to continue. Whilst I agree with some of your points, Ive not seen enough from the likes of Reijnders or Marmoush to convince me they are or will be elite players. At present they come off the bench squad players at best rather than as automatic starters when at their age in their positions you cannot be looking at potential. A winning mentality is not just about skill and is currently lacking in some players. Yes, we have been spoiled but long may it continue.

The Blame Game, Feeling Angry, Being Upset, Anything But the truth, Sorry, I hold my hands up, that's me right now

We are just not ready to be champions, We still need more time and some new players to finish the rebiuld for the future, Yes it could be still a good season if we win silverware and bring back the winning feeling. I dont think there is anything to fear in the coming years and this City squad can beat anybody on our day, but its judged by the league table and on the past,

Keep the Faith

I will agree with some of the stuff I've read, we do tend to over exaggerate jow good this team actually is. I'll put that down to positive PTSD from when we were comfortably the best team on the planet. We're not that anymore.

Big transistion season this one, very frustrating to put the title back in Arsenals hands, but in honesty having watched us of late, I'm not sure theres one blue out there who though we would win all of our remaining games.

I'll never lose faith though, its a funny old game as the sozzled cockney pisscan used to say.

Reading through most of the comments in this thread. In amongst the anger and general frustration, there is a common theme of annoyance at how and why we insist on recycling the ball constantly when most feel we should be attacking and closing out games (to avoid situations like last night).

The below article is really interesting (it may have been posted before, but I think it's topical again here), it's a lengthy read, but goes some way in trying to explain the method in the madness.

It doesn't make it any more palatable to watch as a fan, but at least it indicates that Pep hasn't just lost his mind.

Whether the changes the article refers to will ultimately pay dividends, who knows!

Personally though, and I'm no Pep, I truly believe we have the fire power to be blowing teams like forest away and this is what we should be doing at this point in time.

I saw this too. My interpretation was that City/Pep were trying to win the game by playing low risk football with the Newcastle and Real Madrid games in mind.

Pep had the option of opening the game up and playing down the flanks but he didn't do that until it was too late.

I was thinking about reading that, and then I saw football365.

You watch Arsenal play Pulis football hoof then the an Arsenal players goes to win the header then just collapses ref gives a foul! If you don’t dive you don’t get nought!

There was an incident in Forest corner flag Semyno had the ball protecting so he could turn to pass it he was being fouls all the time shirt pulled arm pulled lost the ball there defender Got it Semyno just put his arm on his should trying to knick the ball the forest player dives referee gave him the free kick!

Thing is I bet if we started to dive we wouldn’t get much and probably get booked!

Sadly, he is no longer "young Phil" and should be joining the ranks of senior players, influencing the team and stepping up to win games. In contrast, Nico O'Reilly is a young player who does have a big impact in games.

Foden is not alone with some of our signings who should be at their peak being not up to City standards which doesnt help our younger players.
Amazingly, I think we missed him last night. He may be young, in his first full season but he brings so much to the team. He’s been head and shoulders above many of the first team squad.

Just seen Dermot Gallagher give his view on the penalty shouts, thank fuck he’s retired, frankly I don’t think either were, Haaland made the most of it moving towards the keeper and Rodri and Anderson it was just a coming together . Gallagher said Haaland was a penalty and Rodri fouled Anderson! What a fucking tool.

Defensive work all over the pitch especially in midfield. Not been protecting Donna and back 4 nearly enough to win league as it stands. Not over yet though!
its just incredibly frustrating to watch us have 95% possession for large spells of games, but then within 5 seconds the opposition can be either through on goal or literally have the ball in the back of our net.

I agree in general but at 1-0 and 2-1 we had the game in the palm of our hand but over did the no-risk, don't lose the ball at all cost strategy.
