Where did you drink your first pint?

1st pint I bought was in the Railway & Linnet in Middleton Junction, Geoff the landlord was a Blue, and we all went on the same coach to Wembley in 81.

The Salisbury Oxford Road aged 15. It was totally vile. Still a shite pub. The second and third one was in the Birch Villa. A frequent match day pub.

Not my first pint but I remember my grandad letting me have a swig of his beer as he was stood on the steps of a tourist steam train that had a bar. We were on some family excursion. It was a sweltering hot day. Was in one of those ‘70s tankards with dimples. Reckon I was about 8.

I remember liking the taste!
Pics of you in this tankard? PM will do.

The Phoenix , University Precinct, Oxford Road ......

It was full of weirdos, so despite only being about 17, I felt quite comfortable, lol !

I went to Manchester University so remember that pub but did not frequent it. Is it still there? I remember being searched for drugs by cops when walking through the precinct despite people in Afghan coats standing around smoking something suspicious. I’ve never smoked.

I think it's long gone, somebody told me it was a supermarket now !

Yeah, there was some right characters used to hang around that precinct back then .... it was just handy for me as I was in my teens and lived in nearby Hulme in the 70s, so I chanced taking my newly aquired girlfriend in there in an effort to impress her ... i don't think she ever forgave me, lol !

The Pineapple in Shaw. 15 years old and my favourite aunty took me there with her new fella at the time.

Turned out later in life she scammed my mum over so she is now the **** of the family. Nice one though for that pint, you slag.
They refurbed the Pineapple just after Covid and destroyed the character of it. Was far better with the bench like seats and pool table.

It’s now a generic pub selling shit lager. A chavs’ pub.

I think mine was in the Joiners Arms in Heywood about 1984, a pub my Gran used to have years before.
i remember Billy Caldwell serving me even though he knew my family well and knew i was only about 15 at the time.
Cheers Billy

Lol, the money or salaries that people now earn eh ???

My first weekly wage back in 1972 was about £7.50 as a clothes cutting apprentice here in Ancoats !!

Since I'm a FOC female I had 2 half pints lager at different times and venues.

Half 1 - Dog and Partridge, Eccles. Xmas 1971, with family.

Half 2 Painters Arms, Bolton Town centre. Aug 1972,,with boyf.

I was er, not of the required age either time, but because I was tall/ wore make up/ blonde got away with it :-).....

Luckily my offspring weren't interested in alcohol, still not.
