Last Film You Saw

Robocop (1987) - Still stands up as an excellent sci-fi film, and despite its futuristic tone, it's so 80's. Brutal and exciting it's a solid 8/10

10 PRINT "Jaws is great, Shawshank is great, Interstellar is great, Joker 2 is f@ckin' shite!"
20 GOTO 10;
Sorry that my opinion seems to have triggered you.

And I certainly wouldn't rank Interstellar alongside those other two films. Not a big fan of Nolan's work, to be honest. The second half of Interstellar drags on, in my opinion.

Made 19 minutes of the latest superman film, its so bad its hard to imagine why they didnt realise it early on and change tack. Please god no more.

I was thinking last night that it'd be awesome if modern movie tech (AI presumably) was used to "enhance" some old movies where the special effects are a bit outdated.

For example, could Never Ending Story be as epic for modern kids as it was for us oldies if the effects weren't so dated? (Clash of the Titans is another I'd think of)

Also could the same tech be used to tone down the 80s love-scenes that were normal for us then but these days seem off for the kids.

(Might just be a nice gesture by AI before eliminating us as a species)

I think time capsulation is a big part of films. But what you are suggesting that AI could do, isn't that what happens anyway with remake after remake after remake after remake?

I saw the Roadhouse remake last year and was quite excited, yet I watched it and it was such a pile of stupid modernised trash.

You take musicals for example. Oliver! had been done so many times.

Little Shop of Horrors (1986) - Which is just awesome in my opinion (and has two slightly varying versions too), other people prefer Little Shop of Horros (1960).

Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Hills Have Eyes - People have different preferences on which remake they like based on when they first watched it.

The list is really endless.

Play Along (2024) on Prime Video - Turned it off about 25-30 mins in. Pure shite.

I don't want a complete redo of a movie cos they are rarely any good. I want the original movie but with parts of certain scenes enhanced so they look modern and more realistic.

Worked well for Star Wars. I see no downside. If the goal is realism they could also slim down the hulk and make him less green

Send Help. An “horror comedy” where two people struggle to survive on a deserted island after their plane crashes on the way to a business meeting in Bangkok. An arrogant entitled male and a resourceful but socially awkward female have to interact. Quite funny in parts with a decent plot line. Enjoyable watch 7.5/10
Watched it a couple days ago made me laugh and wince in equal measure very enjoyable watch .Not sure the female lead struggles to survive :)

Not getting on at your opinion, but I see a ot of this in reviews.

Whilst I wouldn't rate the film as 'the best' or anything close, I think it was an interesting choice to make the character more relatable in his connective 'Humanity' than just a baseline character whose forté is being a 'superhero'.

I like that Gunn made the character struggle more in identifying which side of him was more important and that he wasn't 'America First', but 'Humanity First'.

Shame Gunn'll leave this interesting exploration aside in his next delivery.

Jaws is on at the moment. I never tire of watching it. Yes; the rubber shark is very, very basic in comparison with today's all singing, all dancing CGI effects. But, for me, that adds to the charm of the movie. Scheider, Dreyfuss and Shaw really nail their roles.
I think you might have the Jaws channel on! It's an absolute masterpiece.
