VAR Discussion Thread

And it’s not a disaster if you’ve paid your hard earned money on travel, ticket, food and other costs to see your team robbed by the opposition player scoring a goal with his hand ? You may shrug it off and say that’s life - but it’s not the reality when we now have tech help that would have ruled that goal out - saints fans will be feeling sick and calling for Var.
Maybe the southampton fans make up the 25% in this recent vote

VAR is (AT LAST) being recognised for the damage it has done to the game, not just decision making but our enjoyment.

And match going fans is the point.
It’s great tv when you aren’t invested. Some random fan from India/China/USA/wherever scrolling their phone whilst looking up then there is a goal which then gets overruled by VAR - great tv / great spectacle. Let’s laugh at that team who have been screwed. Anyway, back to my phone now and a video of a cat falling out of a tree.
Meanwhile in the ground you are left to pray there is a bit of wifi to text a mate to ask what the fuck is going on.
That’s why it is here to stay - because it is a product (never mind the added bonus of how easy it is to use corruptly)
Think the fsa poll also asks tv watchers, and they (me) also want it gone.

Did I hear dermot right then VAR isn't there to get right decisions but to avoid clear and obvious errors being missed
Make it up as go along

Would Klopps fast flowing football work when there is a VAR check when the ball goes out of play nearly half the time? I would argue the speed of play on this front has harmed Pep and a lot of fast flowing attacking football.
Klopp wouldn't have won the league without VAR.
When VAR came in referees were so crippled with insecurity they only made a decision if a player threw themselves to the ground, VAR would then check the incident and as long as there was 'contact' then the decision stood.
This gave a big leg up to teams who's players would flop to the ground theatrically at the slightest brush, i.e. Liverpool, Leicester, Wolves and now Arsenal.
I'd say it's more people's frustration about Liverpool's, and more recently Arsenal's, theatrics and all round cheating behaviour being given a seal of approval by VAR that has caused the majority of the frustration with the system.
Kick'n''rush'n'dive has never been free flowing football.

It should have been a good thing but until we have people who can run it right then its a waste of time ............i know it takes the joy out of it but if they get to the correct decision then it serves its purpose sadly for us these twats cannot even get it right

So how many times have PIGMOL had to come out and say sorry, we got it wrong again
clear and obvious errors by VAR is cheating and not mistakes, this is WHY fans don't like it

Also, why don't the fans in the ground get to see and hear what's going on

They are cheating ? mistakes happen when it's live

It’s not VAR the the problem, it’s the tossers that use it.

Officiating has got a lot worse under Webb, The fact he brought back Lee Mason as a referee coach months after removing him for ever from PL officiating due to major errors says it all.
For me it's not VAR it's the muppets operating it and those also on the pitch. We have been screwed more than ever this season but that's down to the blatant cheating going on by certain officials. Without Var, we would be worse off and certain teams better of

I dont think it is. Even if they had THE best on VAR (Whatever that means) they would still be pulling up play for tiny mm infractions that mean nothing. VAR would still be getting involved in things that just dont matter. Every goal would still be checked for ANY infraction in the build up...

We would still be re-writing basic rules to now fit into the VAR way of working. Refs skills would still be going backwards. Goal celebrations would still have that pregnant pause because we know VAR could magic up something to cancel out the goal...

It has changed the game so much more than just correcting decisions (And it doesnt even do that too well.)

Sorry mate but if it takes the joy out there’s no fucking point in going. We had 150 years without this shit. Some shocking decisions that went for and against you but you knew once the ball was in the net, no flag - go mental - the whole point of going. Now, not sure, might be a goal might not. Fuck that and fuck the cunts who never asked us, the fans.

If fucking VAR off stops nobody refs becoming celebrities then i'm all for it.

Taxi for Dermott to begin with

This is why it needs fucking right off. If you want / like / enjoy video referee / technology decisions fuck off to Twickenham/ Wimbledon/ The Oval - and leave the football to us.

I'll bet more match going fans are giving their opinions in the FSA poll versus the PL version. I'd imagine there is still a big discrepancy between TV viewers and match going fans.

Ultimately I think football flows better and works better without VAR. Errors are still made but fans can accept it and moan about it in the heat of the moment. They can't accept a VAR fuck up.

It also needs to be looked at how rules for VAR are being manipulated. Players diving and feigning injury by staying down on the ground knowing VAR will review.

Would Klopps fast flowing football work when there is a VAR check when the ball goes out of play nearly half the time? I would argue the speed of play on this front has harmed Pep and a lot of fast flowing attacking football.

Thrown in, pause, VAR check. Goal kick, pause, VAR check. Corner, pause, VAR check. It's tedious, it's sapping enjoyment out of football and I've not even mentioned when we can celebrate a goal.

We'll get some clangers without VAR but football is better without it.
Football fans can't accept VAR fuckups because their shouldnt be a such a thing. The spinless cunts on the field need to be making decisions and not relying on thier mates looking for shit reasons to back them up on VAR. No way should it be the same bunch of dickheads on the pitch and in VAR
