VAR Discussion Thread

I disagree with getting rid of VAR as a whole but it needs a overhaul and need it should be manned by people who aren't already refs and all pally with the the refs on the field.
An independent panel.
The prem makes billions and it's run by a boys club rather than professionally.
It needs fucking off. For. Ever.

Not much noise on here after the non-red. I know they said that the ref dealt with it and explained to var that they did not see excessive force, but it was a head but end of. Straight red every day of the week. VAR is hiding behind interpretation and guidance to manipulate games, it’s clear and obvious. Look at the non red in the derby as well, it’s being used to help the red tops with the odd exception to seem “fair” like the midget hair pull.
If they had done their job, Gabriel would be out of the next 3 games and be a massive problem for them in the title race, as it is they get away with it not only on Sunday but for the next 3 games.
I have said it before, VAR is a good idea being manipulated by incompetent and even “corrupt” individuals

I've been a staunch advocate of VAR and I still haven't changed my mind. This is isn't the way I've have done VAR.

But the digital data is the digital data.

What's wrong is the reinterpretation of what they see, week on week of the same/ similar actions or offence.

The difference between rugby and football is that the refs in the booth in rugby confirm what has happened and ASSIST the referee in the decision, not ask him to make his mind up on it (can't recall a ref being asked to review anything, but it may have happened! So, it's rare.). Was it a deliberate handball that led to a goal/ denying a goal? Yes. Done. There's a difference between 'making yourself "bigger" ' and a natural position. Everybody with a brain knows this.

Did the player make a deliberate aggressive action towards the opponent with his head? Yes? Done.

As long as the action is done DELIBERATELY I ain't got a problem with the decision.

Can't have one ref seeing things differently than another, so leave it to the booth to follow the guideline, NOT have a think about it!!

The only thing wrong with VAR is the way it is currently applied in its entirety. Pictures on the screen like they have in rugby and cricket, public address in real time as to what is being deliberated and we'll see how we go from there.
But that would take the power away from Webb and his cronies, and that won't be happening anytime soon.

Go and watch rugby. And enjoy the video decisions. Leave us to watch a proper sport without that shit.,

So when a player gets elbowed and goes down the other side of the pitch and nobody saw it, then what?

When a player sticks his arm out and stops the ball going in the net, which might win the league or stop you getting relegated, and the ref decides "natural position" on his own without a set of proper rules that he has to work with, then what?

And rugby's not a proper sport?? All the rolling around footy has and you say that!!

LOL!!

Nothing wrong with var, the fault lies with the clowns using/administering it, who are invariably the same clowns that make the on-field fuck ups.
It needs to be fully transparent like rugby, with all conversations between officials audible, but of course that will be opposed by the corrupt/incompetent ones.

And they will hang on to the mystery 'n secrecy that surrounds PL VAR as long as they can. I will never be convinced that the current application of VAR is for better arbitration - it's a vehicle for manipulation. If they were at all interested in matching the outcome to what happpened on the pitch they would have adopted a more transparent model.

Exactly.

VAR isn’t going anywhere, in fact it’s going to be doing corners and whatnot from next season, that will be fun! It’s all about money, money sunk, money in the pockets of PIGMOB, etc the fans are extras, nothing more nothing less, if they don’t like it they can lump it.

If fans had the guts to rebel against it by not turning up to the games, I’m pretty certain something would be done.
