“A significant day of talks in Damascus – today, a bilateral format with President of Syria Ahmed al-Sharaa @AH_AlSharaa took place, as well as negotiations involving our teams, and there was a trilateral discussion – Ukraine, Syria, and Türkiye @HakanFidan. We are building new relations, new opportunities, and expanding our efforts to ensure security.
We managed to cover everything: from security and defense issues and the situation in the region caused by developments around Iran, to energy and infrastructure cooperation between our countries. We will also continue work on food security. We discussed in detail how to overcome the consequences of the war, as well as the negotiation process regarding Russia’s war against our state and our people.
I am grateful to all Syrians who welcomed us today. Ukraine was among the first to support a new Syria after the fall of the Assad regime. We are ready to continue supporting stability and development. We will work even more closely together so that our peoples and our countries become stronger, and so that our economies can grow stronger as well. Thank you”
Zelenskyy also said “At night, the Russians attacked Odesa with strike drones. They damaged residential buildings and a kindergarten, as well as a district electrical substation. Thousands of families were left without power. Repair crews have been working since the night to restore electricity supply.
As of now, unfortunately, it is known that three people were killed in this attack, including a child—just two years old. My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones.
Sixteen people were injured. Eleven of them were hospitalized by our medics, including a pregnant woman and two children. The youngest is not even a year old. Two people were also injured in the Kharkiv region.
There were strikes on energy infrastructure in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. Thank you to our services that are helping on the ground.
Overall, overnight the Russians launched more than 140 strike drones against Ukraine, with about 80 of them being "Shaheds." In some oblasts, the strikes continue. And this is just a part of what our people go through every day. Over the past week, there were more than 2,800 strike drones, nearly 1,350 guided aerial bombs, and more than 40 missiles of various types.
Now all partners need to strengthen air defense together so that the percentage of drones and missiles shot down keeps rising higher each time. This is daily work for everyone, not just Ukraine, because with supplies and support for us, joint efforts by partners help them too. Russia has no intention of stopping. Thank you to everyone who understands this and invests in our shared defense”
