North Stand Construction Discussion

Apologies if you think I was but I wasnt having a pop at you.

My lad has been to games through you in the past so I'm aware of what you do.

I'm just really frustrated that I have a 15 year old local kid thats obsessed by the club and desperate to go to more games that probably wont ever have a chance at a season ticket.

When I got mine 25 years ago, I applied and got one straight away despite having not lived in the UK for a decade.

This year I've given up most of my tickets, including today, with the purpose of bumping up his numbers (hes gone to dozens of matches over the last 10 years but many not in his name). So much so that the club probably wont let me keep my season ticket next year.

But he wont come close to 35 in his name over the past 3 years.

We've gone years now with no (or very few) new season tickets. Last year when they released single match tickets at once I sat in a queue for hours and didnt get one single match. Annoying but I had hoped that the new stand would finally give us a chance. Doesnt seem like it.

Maybe a bit of perspective why people are talking about walking away.
Hope you and your lad get sorted out. I would have hated this to have been the situation when I first got my sons season tickets.
Personally think the criteria should be based on the parent rather than the kids. You having a season ticket for 25 years and taking your kid when you can, should be the criteria. That way they know they're selling a season ticket to a loyal fan who uses their ticket.

Was it that you couldn’t get tickets near yourself? There are of course certain matches that are tricky to get, the derby, first and last home games etc, but the lesser games are usually easy to pick up. I do this every year for my son who’s on a Matchday card. Funny though, he’s missed out on qualifying for a season ticket for the last five years or so and I have purposely ensured he’s got the qualification of 35 games over 3 years. Now he says he might be moving away and not to bother!! Grrrr!

It’s baffling mate. We have local fans who want season tickets but are being refused.
If it was sold out every game then fair enough, but it isn’t and the 35 game rule isn’t going to work.

Is it still on course to be opened before end of season?
Look around 2:20, the big gap in the back of the stand.

It looks a way off to me, and I would go for no from what I could see on Sunday, which you can't really see from the drone as it needs to get lower and look up, like the crowd can.

Can't wait for the lego version to come out..

I can’t see how it can open this season, no test events been done yet or even mentioned. Half the areas not even done yet for thousands of people to go up too.

Busy summer - is there concerts on at all? Can the stand be used then ? But I’m guessing the stage and everything will be infront of it

Yeah i thought the same sunday after having a nosey around, be fantastic to get it open and filled for the final game if it goes to the last day. Hopefully they give it a big push over the next few weeks but can't see it happening

I agree.

The fan zone is miles off. The roof isn’t on yet, never mind inside the fan zone. We don’t know what the concourses are like. OK, the seats are installed. I’d hate City to rush the finish and for the expanded North stand to end up like the expanded South stand with loads of snagging and finish issues that still haven’t been sorted out yet and never will be sorted out. Finish the North stand of properly over the Summer months and open it at the start of next season, with pre-season test events when everything is finished and open, bar the hotel.

I know what the argument will be. City could win the title at the last home game of the season in-front of 62,000 fans. And if you believe the rumours or not, it could be Pep’s last managerial game for City at the Etihad.

The fan zone was never scheduled to be open this season though. As you say, we don't know what the concourses are like. But other than bogs and stairs/escapes, they don't need to be completely done to be operational.

At the end of the day, if it is in their contract to open this season, even if it is just for the last day to meet that stipulation, by hook or by crook they will open it this season. Imo.

Read somewhere that the club were hoping to have the hotel etc., open for the concerts in the summer , Take That is in mid-June , looking at the current state of the build its looking optimistic.
Hoepfully its open for the start of next season , it will look impressive when its all finished
