Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Does anyone ever talk about the performance / narrow score in the City 3-2 QPR game?

We went away, won and are top of the league. It could have been better, but it is enough for the moment. Happy Days now. Arsenal have to outperform City, and they are in relegation form.
The difference being we had already done the business in terms of a decisive goal difference

Will take that.

Win the game, take the points and move top. We had chances to help the goal difference but the priority was a win.

After the weekend game I was a little worried about this. Completely different atmosphere, coming after a difficult game, and have we got the mentality?

Fair play to Burnley as well, they gave everything and with a back 5, parked that bus as good as we’ve seen this season.

He said Burnley fans were classy as always then basically slagged us off for not winning by more. He's not hiding his Arsenal allegiances.
Over the last few years, his Arsenal bias is becoming more obvious.

In the past he used to represent City a bit better.

Still created the chances. I could understand the negativity if we had dropped the points.
I'm not negative. I'm happy with the 3 pts. It was the most important thing. But pretending is was awesome and flawless... Nah.

Great performance by the boys and girls in the stands expecially the Boys in Blue being sung in full. I was hoping for Funky City to follow but like the extra goals it wasn't to be. We seemed to revert back to earlier games in the season passing sideways back and forth and not being as direct. Our corners remain shockingly bad, for a team of our ability it really needs massive improvement. Can we get Walker back on a free transfer for a year he was excellent for them. Now to find a Mcds before heading home.

The eyes of the World were on Burnley, if only to make sure they gave it a good go for their own fans and the integrity of the league, plus they’ve just been relegated, we have to give them some credit. They blocked 2 or 3 nailed on goals for starters.

Some of our balls in the final third were frustrating but loads of decent chances created.

Pep picked a team with no defensive midfielder and we came absolutely flying out of the blocks and he was having hissy fits on the side of the pitch every time we botched an attack.

The people who are pretending we didn’t set out to run up some goals tonight are deluding themselves and dressing it up with toxic positivity pretending anyone who points out the obvious is being negative.

We got the bare minimum win, and yes that’s important, but if that’s all Pep wanted he wouldn’t have picked the team he did, we wouldn’t have been leaving ourselves exposed to counter attacks all game, even in the 80th+ minute by throwing everyone forward, and he wouldn’t have been tearing his hair out on the sidelines.

Exactly. Every single person deep down knows tonight was the best chance we had to boost our goal difference and we failed. We know it, the players know it and Pep knows it. If Arsenal win their next two games and rack up 3-5 goals in the process before we play again i fear it will deflate us.

It would be strange if Arsenal suddenly become a free scoring side. Burnley is the only game you can see them winning by 4 or 5, we're capable of doing it to anyone.

If we win all 5 and still lose it by a couple of goals, will it be down to tonight or down to the points thrown away against the likes of Spurs, Forest, West Ham.

As I said page 1 the positive is that we played badly, the kind of bad game this team has once a month and still won. We’re top of the league, even though it might be fleeting. That doesn’t change the fact we missed a golden opportunity to score some goals against a Burnley team that were very poor and gave up loads of chances for us to do that, or that Pep was clearly going for - big score line.
Absolute bollocks.

He doesn’t have any hair.
