Will we win the league this season? No

Opta tool has the following PL probabilities. They must be using data from the entire season to get these outcomes but City's probability has improved a lot as a result of tonight's win. I forget what it was, but it was a lot smaller than the 34% they are quoting now.

Find it interesting that the bookies have it different. Assumed they would use the same data

Draws is what kills you at this stage of the season. I can see Arsenal drawing games in between the champions league matches.

Everton game is going to be huge. Arsenal could be 6 points clear again by then, and it's probably our toughest game left. They and Moyes really don't seem to like us.

Can't see us winning all of our remaining games. Neither will Arsenal.

Let's see who's got the steel, the resolve, the mindset and the bit of good fortune.
Agree. We won’t win all the remaining games. Nor will Arsenal.
Tonight we totally deserved it but again we forgot to finish the game off.

Nerves crept in at Arsenal some time ago. It will infect us as well now that we are equal on points and goal-difference.

When city chase a team.down

They break that team.
Mentally they have given everything.
Really tried as hard as they can.
And then this machine driven and guided by the best manager eva.
Comes along and with 5 games left .
Cool as fuck.
With total belief in the manager.
They go past the other team.
Totally break them.
We've done it to the dippers.
And we have just done it to arsenal.
Our players totally absolutely believe when pep says follow me and you will win the league.
Lego head doesn't for a second believe they will win it.
So his players don't believe it.
And the fans don't either .
Domestic treble number 2 is weeks away.
Down to one man.
And this is the start of another period of dominance

Make no mistake Arsenal will be delighted with that result tonight. That will give them a lift.

They will smash Newcastle Saturday and will put a truck load past Burnley at the emirates.

Frustrating night
Or they might get all nervy in front of their entitled shit fans who’ll be on their backs if they’re not a goal up after two minutes and shit their kecks

Secure the points from now until the Villa game and see where we are without doing anything gung ho. Villa look like they will have qualified for CL by the last game hopefully their minds on an Europa league final

Disagree. The way that game went Arsenal will be disappointed we didn’t drop a point. We are the leaders now and it is all about GD from here on out.
Tbf, you may well have a point. I always hated the games they just edged they could have lost or drawn, way more than the ones they pumped someone 3-0 or more. The frustration is worse.

Before the Chelsea game I recall saying that if we won the remaining 8 games, we’d win the league, and I’m not going to change my mind. 5 to go.

Wouldn’t trust anything they’re saying if they can’t even get the league table right

Why will they put a truck load past Burnley but we didn't.

No way arsenal win the next five games.
I think we will draw a game.
But they have been shocking in the last few months.
They could easily draw one one get beat on one.
City win it by 7 points

We really, really have to hope that those Champions League games kill Arsenal's momentum. Burnley tonight was a chance to rack up the GD+ and we didn't take it. Now we have to pray Arsenal drop points somewhere.

Their big problem in recent weeks has been a lack of goals and creativity outside of set pieces, but you could see already on Sunday that they're miles better with Eze and Odegaard back in the team with Havertz up front.

I had Newcastle and West Ham down to hopefully get draws against them - which looked possible with Gyokeres up front for them - but with some big names back I can see them comfortably winning that Newcastle game now.

Which means I think it does all come down to whether we can beat Bournemouth and whether West Ham can do us a favour against Arsenal in their bid to stay up. Think we've let Arsenal back in a bit after Burnley, if I'm honest.
What momentum ? They’ve won one game out of the last six.

Identical points.
Identical Goal Difference.
Identical number of games W/D/L.

Twelve point gap to the pack.

This is like a season reset. Staring from parity.

Five match tournament. City and Arsenal. Biggest winner from here gets takes title.

Who are you backing?

Today’s game was a good illustration of how nervy and challenging it can be to give an encore of your best performance a mere 3 days after a grueling slugfest. Still we eked out a win.

Let’s see how Arsenal do in their league games mere days after two physical battles with Simeone’s Athletico.
