The Boxing thread

I explained why Wlad was very much not at the end of his career and I named Ortiz and Stiverne as credible Wilder opponents

It could be argued that Wlad had grown old overnight but I’d prefer to give credit to Uncle Peter’s brilliant game plan and Tyson’s punch perfect implementation of it in a hostile environment. It stands the test of time as one of the great world title victories by a British boxer on away soil
Still overrated and Ortiz & Stiverne are dogshit

Hatton tribute was pure class from Fury. Calling out the lack of tributes in other fights beforehand too. Can say some weird things at times but it's hard to genuinely dislike Fury, puts on a show but is a decent guy at his core. Cannot say the same for Joshua who is a grade A wanker. Honestly, I hope the fight never happens, both are past it now, Joshua would stand a better chance than he ever would have years ago when everybody actually wanted it, fury doesnt need the money would sooner he deprived Joshua of the payday and attention.

Those wins against wilder are looking poorer an poorer as time goes on. Great fights, but huge questions have to be asked about Wilder's quality. I would struggle name Wilders best win, ortiz maybe??

Fury had a good start against Usyk, there is 24 round of boxing he lost comfortably across the majority. I think it cheapens Usyk achevement massively to say Fury beats him on another day. He is the dominant heavyweight of his generation, a gold medalist who cleaned out crusier and heavy weight divisions. Usyk, is older, shorter and lighter than Fury. He is manfactured heavyweight who has outclassed Fury and AJ twice, the pair of whom run from each other like the plague.
I think those fights took alot out of both Wilder & Fury. Fury was coming back from nearly killing himself.

My biggest issue here is the constant bullshit from both sides. AJ fans are constantly saying about the death of his two friends? Its really tragic news no doubt about however it happens to us all and we have to find a way of getting on with it, we all have to return to some normality faster than we all would like.

People also forget that before Wilder 2 I think it was Tysons baby daughter was very poorly he spent day and night in hospital days out before it. Before he fought Usyk the biggest fight of his career his wife lost a baby at 6 months , she didn't attend the fight then he knew.

The guy aint afraid of AJ and i think he boxes his absolute head off, no doubt he will get hurt though.

Rocky is getting the **** kicked out of him on itv 4 if anyone cares?

I reckon he’s gonna turn it round

Who do we reckon will win? For me, AJ is the better technical boxer, so I'd probably side with him.
AJ is a terrible technical boxer, he's robotic. It's been his flaw his whole career. Fury is a far better technical boxer, but AJ at this stage will be more explosive, its a tough fight to call but I'm edging to always Fury outboxing him and winning on points.

you are assuming one of them will throw a punch rather than spending all rounds grappling with one another

You know the score ? Dodgy first fight and somebody demanding a rematch.
Promoters/Boxers take the fans for fools, the bigger the panto, the more people want a rematch

I watched the Hulk documentary on Netflix the other night and Boxing is going down the same avenue
The Nice guy vs the Baddie, then you turn it around and they love it even more

I doubt the deal is done, they are just saving face as the Prenga fight wasn't the one promised by Turki.

They won't be selling tickets anytime soon...

So true. Money talks, and bullshit walks. Whatever the result, there'll be a rematch. And everybody gets happy.....

Inoue won a close fought battle.
Keeps on knocking off rivals but getting little credit for it.
Bam is on the horizon. Hope he beats him then retires as an all time great.

I dont claim to be a expert on boxing.
But come on Jim how do you come to the conclusion AJ is a better technical fighter than Fury. Unless your getting the fury fighters mixed up.

I'm no expert either. But trust me, I can tell the brothers apart. As for my opinion, that's exactly what it is; an opinion. Based on what I've seen of the two fighters. You don't agree. Fine.
