Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

That game epitomised our last 2 seasons, and I loved the response. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted a 1-0 plus, but after the mistakes I was looking for a fightback. And that’s what we got.

Personally, I was never looking at winning the league this season but was looking for at least a challenge. Still challenging while winning a pot, and on course for a second one, is way beyond my expectations.

We have a chance.
Best post of the night.

If it was us with Palace away at the end of the season you know we wouldn’t win there. Arsenal will still drop points. It doesn’t change too much. We need them to lose anyways as we wouldn’t have caught them of goal difference especially that they have Burnley at home. They have 2 away games and we have 1 away match left. Keep the faith. It’s not over. West Ham ain’t a walkover especially wi to how much they need to win too

I’ve posted plenty of positive things. When warranted.

I’m not arsed if you disagree with my views on football.

But your personal attack on me is uncalled for and frankly ridiculous. You know nothing about me, my family or my friends (many of whom post on here). And to bring that into a post about football says more about how pathetic you are than anything I’ve ever said on this forum.
Well you could try and stop being so fucking negative and miserable.

And quite honestly I couldn't give a shit, seeing as your input never varies and your input is predictable and boring.

Sorry if you can't accept your own character traits.

If Arsenal had done that tonight - 1-0 up and cruising it would be called a mega bottle

They have form for spoiling title charges, I’ll give them that lol.

Lol, wouldn't two London clubs just revel in the glory of ruining neighbouring Arsenal's title hopes eh??

West Ham fans would probably demand an extra bank holiday if their side beat Arsenal, escaped relegation, and ruined Declan Rice's Saturday night out !

I’ll settle for 2 Cups in what as been a mediocre season, just like to say though all these players who can’t hit a cows arse with a banjo always seem to score against us

He’s a striker, he’s there to score goals and work hard off the ball. We don’t have psg Bayern forwards or Yamal. That is just reality
He played left wing for Bournemouth though not as a striker. I think it would suit if they changed wings for a bit through the match to mix it up a bit. Doku played amazing tonight and I think we need to focus on the left side with Oreilly in the next few matches

My understanding is that as Guehi made a pass back its a different phase of play so yes he was offside when the pass was made (that is clear as day) but once Guehi passes it then its a different phase of play so he isnt offside....I thought that the moment the goal went in before all the VAR waiting around
Old rule used to be any touch by a defender negated an offside call. Nowadays (30 years or more) a deflection off a defender doesn't negate offside but playing the ball deliberately does.

Have to give credit to Everton really for that second half performance, they deserved to get back into the game at minimum despite the comments on their thuggishness being fair game at the time.

I thought that would be a comfortable win based on the first half for you lot, but it seemed a very skittish second half that was compunded by the Guehi moment. I thought the City team still showed great character in the end, despite the result on paper. Just one of those days — at the wrong end of the season.

It’s not over until it’s over, but that looks like it’ll be a damaging one. Given that us and Brentford are going for Champions League potentially, I fancy our chances against you at home in GW37; but Arsenal could just as easily bottle a game or two still!

One or two very bad tackles by the Everton players that should have been more than a yellow ? Also, Doku gets kicked all over the park and then gets the booos. The referee allowed them to leave more than a little bit on us. Keane should have been sent off because he was never getting to the ball and took Doku out of the game with a bad tackle. He was so late and the intent was there

He won’t see it.

He has been excellent, agreed. But that is Gerrard-esque.

If he doesn’t mess up we don’t go to pieces.
It was a calamity in context which they made the most of.

I still believe if it was disallowed then there would not be as much furore compared to it being given.

But to say he cost us the title is OTT.

They should have been down to 10 just after we scored, and WE SHOULD HAVE GONE FOR A SECOND ASAP.

Amazing how some on here think it wasn't offside yet everybody on the pitch, linesman and commentary team did.
Referee didn't, pretty sure he was "on the pitch".

Regardless Guehi knew he was offside (looking at him) yet decided to make a terrible touch, however you look at it, it was a terrible intervention from him.

Actually, I didn't say that it would be in theirs, if they drew. It wouldn't be in either team's. But (again, Zzzz)
had we won tonight,
then they drew,
It would have been ours to lose. Having drawn, it no longer would be.

Forget it - I simply replied to a poster who said that tonight hasn't changed anything, when it clearly, fundamentally, has.

Hopefully somebody will post the change in betting odds between 7pm-10pm - that should make it easier for any who don't yet grasp it.

We didn't win tonight so that part of your post is irrelevant.
You missed my reply, it seems - or at least some of it.

Probably too busy misunderstanding my previous post.

What is factually wrong with anything I said? Please check that I did actually say 'it' this time, before posting.

Remember, I was simply querying what another poster claimed - that tonight's draw hadn't changed anything.

Very disappointing tonight. At 1-0 and just after the defensive fuck up from Khush, Nunes and Guehi, resulting in their player missing a sitter by playing it straight at Donna, I said to my mate, “we’re playing the clock rather than Everton” meaning we’re trying to run the minutes down by keeping possession.
That doesn’t work with this group of players, because they cannot look after the ball well enough. I know this is Peps mantra, but we don’t have Silva, KDB and Gundo anymore. We are always vulnerable to the turn over.
Look at each Everton goal.
1.Guehi fuck up… no need to pass it back
2. Cherki? Carelessly Losing possession on the edge of ‘their’ box, resulting in a corner, which wasn’t defended properly
3. A quick throw in by them and Kovacic and Guehi running in divers boots, a shit shot from their player falls to an unmarked Barry.

Possession stats mean nothing if you don’t make it pay. Walking football from us for most of the game. Why can’t we do more of the quick pass through the lines like our 2nd goal tonight and our winner at Burnley? No defenders can deal with Haaland running onto those. It is a major weapon that we are reluctant to use for some reason.

All the back four, plus Cherki, Semenyo, Gonzalez were very poor tonight. Marc Guehi was shown up for a lack of pace on a few occasions tonight, as was Nico G and Kovacic.

Credit however for the comeback, but the game should have been won in the first half really.
