A disgraceful undermining of the Ticket Points system - again

I can only imagine this thread kicking off even further with Cityzens members getting their FA Cup final ticket window open today at 4pm.

just continuing from my previous post when i suggested the following, A simple solution which would have been fairer and more reflective would be allow supporters clubs their 20% but rather than let them access all tickets, allocate them pro rata all price categories of tickets so they equally get saddled with expensive tickets.

I would ensure each branch got a cross section off all the price bands for wembley, not one branch gets 50 pound tickets etc, each branch gets pro rata their successful application, the onus would then be on the branch to ensure that they allocated the tickets in a fashion that rewarded their loyal supporters and denied those who fancy a big day out at wembley the option of just blagging the cheapest/best seats. Problem Solved.

Yep it’s a decent idea and I think most people in supporters clubs would be happy with that.

You’ve described the role of the people running the OSC’s, not the members. I don’t question the commitment of those running the clubs but fail to see why that should give their members priority tickets for this final without any qualifying criteria beyond being a OSC member.

i think so, it recognises supporters club (rightly so) doesn't undermine cup scheme members in regards to getting a decent/cheaer seat and if the branch has integrity stops the big game fans blagging the best and cheapest tickets but doesn't entirely rule them out from going either, pretty much a no brainer, i am suprised that whoever is responsible for supporters clubs has never suggested it as it's not reinventing the wheel, stops them from being open to criticism about fairness and is a transparent method that ticks all the boxes.

While i appreciate your view. It's sometimes quite difficult to get 3 coaches full of fans away from Wembley in a safe orgainsed manner. Its much easier if they are sat together. Why would steward/volunteer on high points want to wait to just the expensive/rubbish tickets are left to do this. Its a thankless task these people do anyway without punishing them for doing it.While i am not without sympathy for people missing out on the ticket of there choice.Someones always gonna miss out.So why the selfless volunteers? The OSC is open to anyone and is important part of the club and is and always has been a legitimate route to match tickets

But mates who need to order mini buses or book train tickets (which increase based on availability) need to wait until they all qualify?

People leave the stadium, make their way to the coach and it leaves when you're all on just like everyone else on a coach.

Don't rewrite history. Platinum and the cup schemes were around at the same time as points were given for away games. That was the situation when we moved to the Etihad. The latter were stopped in 2019.

You get 100 points per cup scheme, which was doubled if you had a Platinum season ticket. So that's an additional 300 points on top of the 300 you would have got with a Gold season ticket.
That may well have be the case, but my point still stands about the club getting additional revenue in early and banking it.

From my point of view I pay £50 extra for a platinum season ticket for the additional loyalty points. I could easily go down to gold, or whatever the next season ticket is classed as?

As for the 3 cup schemes, once again additional loyalty points were a big influence on me to join the 3 cup schemes. I’m now only in the FA Cup scheme. I might come out of that next season. I’ve stayed in that because most games in the FA Cup are on a Saturday, tickets for the games are cheap, and there’s always a chance of a decent away trip in the FA Cup.

Thanks for clarifying the extra loyalty points question I asked.

I didn’t suggest those on high points should wait until only the expensive tickets were left and didn’t question the OSC as a legitimate route to tickets, I questioned why simply being a member should suddenly propel somebody to the front of the queue for tickets? Why change the criteria for this game when the criteria applied for previous finals has been fair to the majority of fans who could make an informed decision at the start of the season on whether to join the schemes or not?

I would say its a little more selfless and time consuming organising tickets/travel for 100+ people you barely know than it is organising tickets/travel for you and your mates(though i do appreciate the efforts of both).Without the volunteers who do this then supporters club wouldn't exist. It can sometimes be like a second unpaid job.People do this because they choose to.Just like people can choose to be on platinum,in a cup scheme, join a supporters club or all three. Its down to any individual to choose the route they want to take.Though i do understand this can also depend on finances

I came across it on Linkedin.

You’re right.

It was more about the reply from a staff member explaining the club rules for buying an FA cup final ticket that the club and the OSC clearly haven’t adhered to. The club has broken its own ticket rules.
If I’m understanding correctly the club have always issued 20% of its tickets to the OSC. With this in mind those “rules” don’t apply compared to those tickets available to ST holders and members. Is my understanding correct? That’s my take for what it’s worth.

Yea its another baseless argument.
The Cup scheme states what it states ,Im sure a lot of people didnt go to the earlier rounds but decided to go to the
Semi final ,which is fine but doesnt mean you get preference .
I have friends who are part of the Norwegian OSC and they’ve been to more away derbies and other away matches than I’ve been in years by virtue that they can access tickets this way. They aren’t ST holders and have no points. This issue doesn’t just apply to cup finals - it’s always been there.

I didn’t know it was 20% until it was posted on the thread,

I don’t know.

Cup scheme was always a pointless concept. Was never a thing once upon a time. Designed by folk who wanted to give themselves a leg up because they had far less loyalty points than others. Can abolish it now for me.
I've been in the cup schemes since the start. The reason I joined was nothing to do with points. I go to all the cup ties and it just made sense to have my ticket secured without having to be messed about by the ticket office. It would be a pain in the arse if they scrapped it.

..or alternatively meant that those who bothered their arses turning up for games against Salford and Burton would be rewarded for doing so.
I always liked the cup scheme. You often get cheaper tickets and the hassle of trying to purchase tickets was often taken away. When it came to away games and finals you got priority because you did the hard yards. Not sure why anyone would be against that concept.

stings a bit reading that

I know this as KP mentioned it once on Ian Cheesman’s podcast

For those who were asking about 1894 “ringfenced” seats it was ringfenced for one working day as we had 50 taken off us previously and 50 more today , if there’s pressure on the club to free up more tickets and our members haven’t bought or don’t qualify then seats do go back into the pool of the wider fanbase.

Ultimately a lot of the people hoping to be at the front with us may well end up in dearer seats or higher up, we can’t control it and we understand club have to allow fans to buy.

I’ve been to Wembley countless times on a coach. None of them part of a supporters club and everyone sat all around the ground. Never had any issues

Getting tickets just because your in a supporters club without the required points is a load of shite and completely unfair on everyone else
