They do have the name of the buyer on them, just not on the first "page" of the digital ticket. It might be different on different phones, but on mine, when I click on the three vertical buttons in the top right of the ticket, it takes me to a second page, where my name, age category etc are displayed. But how do they do these checks if the tickets dont have names on them?
On a wider measure, these sorts of checks are ridiculous and nothing more than a tick-box exercise by the Wembley authorities to show that they are "tackling ticket touts". I'm sure the vast majority of tickets will be in the name of the person holding them, but if we pass it on to a family member or friend, then so what? We are hardly touts, just Blues helping out other Blues. Can you imagine the hassle of, half an hour before kick off, being instructed at the turnstile to find some obscure office at Wembley, after fighting your way through the crowds, just to satisfy some disinterested jobs worths? I would be fuming. But it could happen. And what happens if you don't have ID with you?
And how does this fit with City's new, far more flexible policy, next season of allowing match tickets to be transferred to a far greater number of people? Yet another example of the FA treating us fans with contempt.
