Keir Starmer

The only conclusion centrist dad ever comes up with is everyone else is wrong apart from centrist dad. The terrible locals were down to devious trickery, the vocal and non vocal people in the PLP are obviously as stupid as the public.
Anyhow I wonder if Wesley is gonna shit the bed today?
Spot on.

God knows why

Apparently he isn’t going to launch a leadership bid yet

"Keir [Starmer] needs to set out a timetable and allow the widest possible contest. It's the only way to rebuild from this mess."

To be fair that comes across very well but my guess is he doesn’t have the numbers. Gauntlet down for Burnham

So the runners and riders to replace Starmer

Rayner, would call an election and next be seen on I’m a celebrity.
Burnham, apparently looking for a “safe” Labour seat to be parachuted into, good luck with that Andy, they don’t exist mate.
Streeting, returned at the last election with a stonking 500 people majority, with a third of the vote, 59% turnout.
Miliband, don’t laugh, apparently he’s considering his options, advised to avoid eating bacon butties if he does run.

FFS, Just give Farage the keys now.

If there is a leadership election then outside of Starmer a vote off between a current Tory wet like careerist cabinet member and the more socialist option is needed.
We will all be making a similar choice in a couple of years time. For those with more socialist leanings its hugely important that Starmer goes and isn't replaced by Streeting or another politician like him.
If Rayner or similar lead the labour party into the next election then the side of the line you fall on becomes much clearer.
I think that's just suicide for the Labour Party. How many times must traditional left (not even hard left) Labour leaders lose general elections before the penny drops that that is not appealing to the general public?

Going back to 1979, every time Labour field a proper left of centre candidate, they lose. Callaghan, Kinnock twice, Miliband, Corbyn twice. You could even include Brown who was left of Blair.

The last time they won with a genuinely left wing option was Atlee in 1945.

I hope they give it another shot, obviously.

They are losing on a bigger scale lurching to the Right.

I just think now enough people are realising now that the 2 main parties aren't far enough apart. Getting power may be briefly satisfying for Labour members and the politicians but ultimately too many are finding themselves in the wrong type of party. Someone basically needs to fuck off its why a contest is needed.

I'm not a political expert, but my thinking is that an awful lot of the electorate are of pension age and they generally lean to the right as the Tories have always wooed the blue rinse brigade
Then we have the working population and the majority of these despise the tax they pay being handed out to "lazy scrounging bastards"
Take the above and they will not vote for a lefty party that in their eyes, wants to reward people who don't work

This is just my opinion

I don't know why the Labour spokespeople are all dancing around the issue: Starmer is a dud. And if you don't think he is fine, but the public do, and that's what matters.

When Jeremy Corbyn managed to lose the election the first time around, Labour had the sense to say (in terms) that they understand that people on the doorstep are saying they are not prepared to vote for Jeremy Corbyn. It's the same now it's not about mistakes, or u-turns or not moving fast enough. People vote for a PM, not for a party or even for policies. They vote for a PM. And they have seen enough of Starmer's slimeball, lying, blaming others, not answering questions, not taking responsibility and hollow speeches. And decided, "he's horrible and we're not voting for HIM".

Exactly this. Where's the donkey jacket wearing, terraced house dwelling, miner, shipyard builder, steelworks worker. Backbone of Labour support 75 years ago? They do not exist.

People these days say they are broke whilst watching Netflix on their 65" TV and driving a BMW. They work hard and already pay way too much tax and are buggered if they will vote for some champagne socialist twat who wants to take even more money off them to give to other people.

This is very unfortunate for the bottom 1/3rd of society but the top 2/3rds out vote them.

Starmer goes into a village and asks, "What are your problems, how can I help?"

Spokesman says "We have two. The first being we have a health centre but no doctor".

Starmer says, "Give me a minute, I can fix that." He pulls out his phone, speaks a few lines and then replies, "There you go, I've fixed that, I've got you a doctor. What's your 2nd problem"?

Spokesman replies, "We've no phone signal around here".

You may be baffled but you’ve offered no alternative narrative. You can’t tell me Starmer isn’t a fan of 3 word slogans, every time he is at the lectern we have one. Why do you think he is the best man for the job?
Better than the alternatives his previous job makes him relatively qualified for the unique job doing a good job with Europe and the rest of the world
