Pep to leave at the end of the season

I personally think it’s time for some fresh ideas. Pep Guardiola is the greatest manager of all time in my opinion, but all good things eventually come to an end. I’d like to see us evolve into a slightly different style of football now.

For me, Luis Enrique would be an exciting option, but unlikely he’d leave PSG rn, so I’d personally give the job to Kompany. What he’s shown at Bayern proves he’s got real tactical intelligence, and he looks like one of the next generation of top managers capable of building fluid, attacking teams. The fact he’s also a club legend just makes it feel right.
Nice of you to give the job to someone who has shown no interest in coming here, how are you making that happen?

What they scream of is a media who were desperate for their story and they may have jumped the gun. I think perhaps he will go and he wants to explain his feelings with Khaldoon before anyone else. However, we do not know this for sure.

Pretty sure Khaldoon is fully looped in given we've quite clearly already lined up our next manager.

Very strange.

What does Pep have to speak to Khaldoon about that he hasn’t already spoken to him about?

I think it’s smoke amd mirrors by Pep. Another deflection tactic.

He knows he’s leaving, but doesn’t want to announce it yet, certainly not to the press, hence the I still need to speak to Khaldoon reply.

"I'm the happiest man on the planet to be at this club"....... doesn't sound like someone who's off at this time
RIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!!
Does anyone know where he lives?
He’ll be home soon if they fly back after the game.
Someone just go and knock on for him and ask him straight.

Abviously agree with him that you won’t tell anyone but just DM me

I fully agree with the stance the club takes:

Now is not the time to point fingers and lay blame, now is the time to regroup. Analyse where it went wrong and try to fix the issues to continue competing for honours.

Deep breathes everyone.

Thanks for another winning year city. To pep and all the players we salute your valiant efforts. Sort out who needs to go and who needs to stay.

Bluemoon you saw me standing alone…

Pick ourselves up and go again.

Always a touch amused about what people think the club's PR department actually is for. Imagine the head of PR knocking on Pep's door about his exit strategy. No one gives a shit, no one will remember in three days times, it has done zero reputational damage.

The media came out with the story, not the club, so not sure how it's bad PR for us.

I really think he's conflicted about what to do and maybe he's still thinking.

For what he's given the club, he has earn't the right to take his time and make the best decision for himself.

He's absolutely earned the right to do what's best for him and his family. He knows there is nowhere else in football he would have what he has here. The freedom, the trust, the love. The problem is he's given everything here and we have won 17 major trophies into the bargain. He's done it and won it all countless times, aside from the champions league which is once. Is he feeling stale? Is he feeling emotionally drained? That wouldn't surprise me. Does he believe this squad with a couple of top additions can challenge at the very top.level again? It's possible. We've been miles off our best yet we have won two trophies and pushed an Arsenal team every single pundit has been wanking about all season right to the wire.
We'll soon find out.

I honestly think that having to dismantle his team, the warriors that ran through brick walls for him and won the fucking lot, has affected him. Don't underestimate the effect that losing 10 year friendships can have on a passionate, fiercely loyal Catalan such as Pep. In 10 years he's seen friends, players, coaches and directors leave. His inner circle has melted away and his marriage has fallen apart. The only thing keeping him here is his undoubted love for our Club.

Bernardo leaving has hit him hard and has taken away his last General. Had Bernie stayed another year, he'd have seen out his contract.

I believe him when he says he hasn't decided. The blokes torn and the one thing we should allow him is the time to make the right decision, for him and his family. Fuck the media, fuck the snarling English football establishment and fuck the masses who want to rush you out of the door.

In your own time r kid, we owe you that.

He may have shown no interest in coming, but do you think if kompany was offered the role he would turn it down? He is a legend of the club, statue outside it. His wife is from Manchester, life long Man City fan and his daughters feel like they’re from Manchester too. I think it would be hard for him to say no personally (my opinion ofcourse). On the hand I don’t think maresca is going to do as bad as other people think though.

Well he's said all along he has one more year, it's the media shitehouses and whoever has been shit stirring behind the scenes that caused this shit storm.
If he stays the media will call it a backtrack when he's actually said he's staying all along, in public anyway.
I hope he stays but no idea where that will leave the other bloke if he's been promised the job.

If Maresca is the club's choice, i'd bring him in again as assistant and let him take over next season.
It'll give him a chance to work with the players, let them get to know each other and maybe implement some of his own ideas so we hit the ground running when Pep eventually does leave.
I dunno, it's been a whirlwind of emotions this week, so whatever is decided won't surprise me now.

Well it’s clear that someone from organization leaked his (potential) decision to leave. Club should react to such rumors and end it when it’s already toxically affecting squad.

That’s the spirit mate.

We all agree with you.

Take your time pep, we all stand behind you win or lose. Love that badly mad man. It will be so hard for him to say goodbye.

Fuck winning things, the man epitomises all that is good with football. He brought us so much credibility and love.

I am glad we got to be apart of it.

I always felt the two year deal was a ruse - but even more so after the League Cup final - when Pep appeared to want to take it all in & his goal celebrations were off the scale (in a good way) - and I totally understand he’d now want to take back the narrative & claim nothing is decided.

I feel however it is indeed done.
Let’s be thankful for what he’s achieved - and grateful he has been around for so long and had the hunger to go again and rebuild so many times.
You genius - intense - complex baldy Catalan.
It has been a ride.

Whatever happens it’s not a big deal. Things move on. We have had our day in the sun and more. Dominance like we have had for the last 10 years always comes to an end. If it’s not this year it’s next. We can’t have this circus again all next season.

The 115 is our biggest fight. It needs resolving now and we need to win. Who cares who wins the league. As long as it not the rags I couldn’t give a fuck.

The only thing affecting the squad was the crazy schedule imposed on us at the end of the season. Palace Weds, then 100 mins on the energy sapping Wembley turf and within 72 hours travelling to a well rested Bournemouth.

We simply ran out of steam.

From everything that has been said and reported, it would seem that Pep hasn’t spoke with the Chairperson about his intentions and, if that is the case, has left the club in the lurch on what Is coming.

That sounds really strange for somebody like Pep who has put the club, fans and owners at the heart of his tenure.

Also says that there isn’t any plan as there can’t be one if we think he’s honouring his contract, which is the striking thing.
