26 | Savinho - 2025/26

Savinho is class and only 22. Far better on the ball than Semenyo who created nothing last night. We’d have won it if Cherki hadn’t gotten in the damn way.

But unlike savio semenyo knows where the goal is.

Semenyo is 26. Was miles, miles worse at Sav's age. Bit of an unbalanced comparison.

They play completely different roles anyway. Not sure the wing playmaker is quite as important in Maresca system so the news does make a bit of sense (if ESPN Brazil is even to be believed).

Curious to see how it works tactically, goal scoring wingers seems fine for us, but the mobile false 9 definitely isn't what we have right now.

I'd still keep Sav unless there's a 22 or under upgrade willing to sit on the bench the vast majority of the time. Bit early for McAidoo and I can't see the likes of Diomande taking that role happily.

Why does Savios replacement have to be 22 or less? Even then im sure we can find a 22 year old who can score more than 1 league goal a season.
 
Semenyo is better in the middle. Savinho needs someone slightly older but very good to rotate with as he develops. Maybe sell Marmoush, Semenyo can replace him.

Because they're more likely to accept a squad role and the reason you buy guys at 20 in the first place is because you want probably roughly a third of the team to be hungry youngers, a third to be peak players and a third to be experienced veterans.

And back up winger is probably the least risky position to have hungry youngsters in.

But if you measure a 22 year creative winger who's obviously sent out there to hold the ball, dribble and make smart passes and push us up the pitch on goals then the profile of the replacement would be all wrong anyway.

Now we need a guy that dovetails with Semenyo's strengths which are largely finishing and physicality as opposed to clones them.

Now for once, I'll defend him. He was never scoring from that angle. Never in a million. Only Sergio was capable of scoring regularly from that kind of angle. Far post, right in the corner. Saw him take it wide over and over. He seemed to like making the angle as acute as possible. Savinho made the right choice. Think of all the times we've seen Rod score from almost exactly that position.
Just unfortunate.

Doku showed no fear at any point, you could always work with his potential, savinho needs a sports therapist or someone who can eliminate his mindset of fear and apprehension on the ball

It reminded me of our 2nd goal in the comeback against Villa a little.
Zinchenko pulled it back to the edge of the box to Rodri.
 
If we sell him we have to buy someone to replace him.

It just has to happen, we dont have enough depth at RW.

I dont really see any RW options besides Diomande and I've been repeatedly told Leipzig arent selling him.

Unless Maresca does something totally unexpected, like a 4222 with inverted 10s (I dont mind this tbh), or we promote Ryan McAidoo as a backup (I also dont mind this).

Ok so he's 22 with obvious potential, former team of the year in la liga at 19, let's get him a psychologist. Amazed the jeering and booing hasn't filled him with confidence so far, might as well try that instead.

Love how the amount Spurs "offered" us for him goes up with each retelling, it'll be £100m before you know it.
