Enzo Fernandez

I was a hard no at first. Then I’ve realised just how good he is at arriving into the box late and has a bit of bite about him too. He’s a bit of a prick, mind. And a lazy one at that. The opposite of what we need.

And I’d hate to get him instead of Anderson.

If we did, I’d be extremely concerned about the transfer strategy.
No way INSTEAD of Anderson. In addition to, maybe...

Where has this lazy bit come from?

"Enzo Fernández consistently tops the distance covered charts among Chelsea's outfield players, covering the most pitch distance overall this season.

Enzo is averaging one of the highest distance-covered-per-90-minute rates among Chelsea's outfield players. In highly competitive matchups, he frequently breaches the 11.6 km mark per game.

Off-Ball Runs: He ranks among the very best in the Premier League for total "expected threat" (xT) added via his off-ball movements, actively carrying the ball from low-threat to high-threat zones"

Just me who can’t see this tweet? Are you sure it’s actually come from him and not a fake tweet?
Video - YouTube mate. It’s a question of Fernandes if Anderson doesn’t work according to him.

But sorry, I’m all in on both options to replace Bernardo and Nico G without question.

Enzo Fernandez is one of the name mentioned internally at Manchester City should they not be able to agree a fee for Elliot Anderson who will be very expensive. (@FabrizioRomano)

So it’s either or, not both.
I’m glad to hear. If we were pushing for both that would suggest that Rodri is defo on his way.

Foden ran more per 90 than Enzo this season.

His defensive numbers are almost exactly the same as Enzo.

Fodens creative numbers p90 are better than Enzos (chances created big chances created and xA). And his passing range is more varied with long balls.

Both have similar goal scoring this season.

They are also about the exact same age.

So why get Enzo?

We have a player who was atleast as good as him this season in Foden, and most would agree this hasn't even been Fodens best form.

Just play Foden... and maybe use Reijnders as a backup to Cherki (if he plays as a 10) or Foden.

Yeh he’s a good player but that temperament, we’ve seen it before.
We simply must get Anderson and work from there, Rodri not looked like himself since the injury and maybe he will get back to his best but it’s been nearly 2 years now.
Enzo gives me tevez vibes and yeh I know he was great but we can’t be signing a player that constantly gets booked and has been trouble for Chelsea more than once.

I’ve not seen anything in his body of work or his attitude that gets us where we want to be.

Pass for me.

Tbf when Phil had his run in the team from September to December he ran his bollocks off.

I’m not pushing for Enzo I don’t want him but there’s some things that stats don’t show such as Foden in midfield getting shoved to the ground more and losing the physical battle more this season semi final I can bring up as an example he was in his own half and got pushed off The ball like it was nothing.

Where as Enzo is more physically strong holds his own in midfield will cheat by falling down but when he wants to hold the ball up he can. It’s why in the Argentine national team he’s a starter in midfield to protect Messi.

Our problem in the middle this season was against physical midfields we get out muscled. Villa away an example, with either Elliot Anderson or Enzo Fernandez in our midfield next season we’d have a More sturdy and physical midfield.

Guess the people at the club should just show this post to Maresca and he will get it :)

It's not that simple. Fernandez would start for England. He's played in CM all his life. He won the WC with Argentine aged 21. Selective use of numbers without context should be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

Alternatively, Maresca and those at the club wanting him to succeed Pep might be daft. I don't think so.

The thing is that conversations would have been happening since the turn of the year with Maresca and Viana about how the team and squad could and should be shaped and if Enzo is a key component from the managers side to make it happen then Hugo is going to look to do it if possible? It makes no sense to not to try and give the manager what he needs to work with and just give him who you can get as we saw with Amorim and the rags, it becomes disjointed and doesn’t work! My opinion, I’d much rather have Anderson and Tonali or Maza but if the deal can be done for Enzo then the club will do it imo.

Enzo topping Chelsea's distance covered charts isn't impressive.

They're the laziest team in the league and got out run in every game this season other than their recent draw against Liverpool.

12km is the bare minimum you'd get from Bernardo, with him often covering over 13. Enzo's peak is 11.6 and he averages 9.6 in Europe.

Personally not keen, not because I don’t rate him but because he doesn’t seem like someone who will continue the harmony which the dressing room seems to have had during peps era. Things will be bumpy post pep and we need good characters as much as good players. Hoping the noise around this one is to somehow influence the Anderson deal. But…. if he signs I’ll be right behind him

Agreed Anderson and Enzo together would be great.

I was in the firm no category, but he is probably Chelsea's best midfielder.

I want Anderson at all costs. Enzo I could give or take, his attitude stinks but that said he could easily replace Nico or Kovacic.
