Who will be the starting GK next season?

Strange, I asked AI to pull all stats and opinions together and it had Donnarumma as top keeper (In Europe) most of the time, along with Neuer, Sommer, etc...

Nowhere was Trafford mentioned. WTF! How can that be?
Building a successful football team is not about finding the 11 best players in the world.

You need to find players that work best in the system.

The technique of your playing group is what defines your tactics. Maresca wants to play out from the back and he wants his keeper to step up to the backline. I do not see that working with Donnarumma.

Pep plays out from the back. Donnarumma was undoubtedly his first choice. Because he had the technique. And is the best shot stopper in the world. Swap him for a 2nd choice keeper? Lol crazy talk again.

Donna is the worst keeper I've seen at city, on crosses, in 56 years.
He either improves drastically, unlikely, or its trafford for me.
Btw I like Donna, great shot stopper, keeper, but if i was an opposition manager I'd be at him all the time peppering him with crosses.
Fuck off, that's laughable

Maresca plays out from the back more so and Pep had to become less reliant on the GK as a build up mechanism. And when we did play out from the back, Donnarumma was clumsy as all fuck. Trafford was so much more comfortable.

Enrique plays out from the back. Fucked Donnarumma off and has done better. PSG's build up has improved.

Hopefully you're not serious...

Trafford isn't some genius passer from the back. He's not even that good. If he was pep would have used his passing out of the back. He didn’t. He chose Donnarumma.

He’s far better than Donnarumma and will get better.Pep decided not to use him Maresca might or he might cut but don’t think it’s cut and.dried.

I dont understand this Trafford is a better distributor of the ball than The Donn, he seems to get better the more he doesn't play, from what I've see there is little to choose on that point
Overall accuracy GD 81% v JT 76% (Ederson 98%)
Long ball accuracy GD 37% v JT 24% Ederson 57%)

No he doesn't. Pep literally popularised playing out from defence in this country. Not to mention, playing out from the back isn't overly reliant on your keeper having the ball for any serious amount of time. And even under a high multi man press, you'd drop midfielders in to overlap it anyway.

Neither keeper can hold a candle to Ederson in terms of long distance distribution. Donnarumma may take too long at times but Trafford was sending the ball into the stands or digging defenders into holes in the corner for needless pressure.

Also, PSG won the league with fewer points this year and won this year's UCL on pens in a 1-1 draw. Won last years final 5-0. Need to see how they've done better.

For me the Ederson playing with his feet thing was overblown. He was excellent for us and the very opportunities we had to hit Haaland when the oppo had a high line Eddie was the man for the job..BUT...probably about 95% of the time he just rolled it short or clipped it out to FB.. all great... but not game changing, nor should it be. Where i thought Eddie was immense for us was his bravery and 100% commitment - that injury v Wolves was an example, i was in the stands at Molineux and I winced..but there he was again a few weeks later saving us and putting his body on the line for the blues...what a character!

What does this even mean? What does Pep popularising it have anything to do with Maresca and how he plays?

You really going to sit here and tell me you would be more comfortable with Donnarumma here as opposed to Trafford?

While I do feel Trafford is a better sweeper and more comfortable on the ball than Donnarumma, I'm not convinced he's so good at either that it could be considered a standout feature of his

I'd rate Ortega as much better than either of those two with the ball at his feet, nevermind Ederson

I think Maresca will either stick with Donnarumma for his obvious abilities, or he will bring in another keeper, if he's that adamant he wants a ball player. I can't see a clear route in for Trafford any time immediately
