Incredibly tough batting conditions so it's not a surprise we've lost so many wickets. They're getting variable bounce and a lot of movement.

Sun is breaking through and it will be interesting to see if Brook decides to get after them a bit now to take the pressure off. Need a big partnership here but weather looks good tomorrow so NZ should be batting in much more favourable conditions.

There isn't an outstanding keeper, so picking the best with the bat is reasonable if they get it right. James Rew of Somerset is in the frame now since they abandoned Ben Foakes.

Foulkes is probably our best actual keeper.

Did Ben Foakes do much wrong? Always thought he was an excellent keeper and averages about 36 in FC cricket?

Foakes got injured against Sussex earlier in the season. Championship game was in its death throes and Surrey allowed him to bowl rather than keep, whereby he injured his side torso. Imagine Haaland going in goal for a laugh and getting injured. Professional.

NZ have bowled really well in favourable conditions and had their warm up against Ireland whilst...well we didn't warm up.

Think that's fine in the first test of a summer series personally. Most have played county cricket, it's only Bethell who comes in after yet another pointless stint in the IPL (unless you're his bank account).

Will give them the benefit of this summer to see if they're truly going in the right direction.
