Jesus Navas

Navas really frustrates me as a player. His work rate is fantastic, he is a great team player, he has very good ball retention, has a tidy first touch and his approach play before he gets into the final third is good, but the main area where he lets himself down is when he does get into the final third, he constantly fails to beat his man, he can never beat the first man from a crossing position and he lacks any real conviction in front of goal or when taking a shot from distance. If he developed these areas within the final third of the pitch, i genuinely think that he would be a world class player. I feel that he almost plays in fear and its about time we took the shackles off him to see what he can really do.

He has all the tools, he just needs to come out of his shell as a player. If he had the self belief of a Hazard or a Sanchez, he would be a much better player and would be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

I think his confidence levels really dropped this season maybe due to groans from the crowd whenever he did something wrong and probably feels a bit hard done by when he sees the fans giving Milner a standing ovation when he misplaces a pass. If he gets his confidence back I still think he could be a good weapon to bring on from the bench to stretch defences.

Completely agree with that.Which is why it will be a good thing to sell him. Last season he made the team more often than not for his pace alone rather than on form because we're so desperate for somebody with pace to hit teams on the counter. He's the one player above anybody else i find myself moaning at in frustration at the match. I really want to like him but i just can't when i know he has all the attributes to be a world class winger but fails to utilise them.

Nice move for him to go back to his home club whilst he can still offer something to them and after they've just secured champions league next season. Should be able to get our money back on him, surely.

Don't have anything against the guy, but he isn't good enough and has proven that last season.

Regardless, only a couple of unreliable Twitter accounts are reporting this so there's probably nothing in it.
Good.
We often joke on here when discussing a player " does he track back" well this lad is the best I've seen at it. Works harder than most if not all the rest of the players.

Given his history with homesickness, albeit there have been reports that he's dealt with its effects, I've always been surprised that there haven't been more rumours about his returning to Seville.

Squad player at best for me and could go if we had a replacement in mind as his final ball is often shocking.

I'd miss him if he went but we do need to start looking for his replacement, this is one player who really will be fucked when his pace starts to go.

Would be OK with this if we get Sterling in , Marcos Lopes can come in and take the backup option

Sounds like this is progressing based on KDB & Sterling coming in, both can play wide as can Lopes, so we'd be well covered. Great work rate but his decision making with his final ball was at times awful, think he also struggled when Negredo went off the boil

Good.

I agree.....for the price we paid, I think we got excellent value and as you have rightly said....works hard for the team! if rumours are true that we selling him back to Spain, we must have a replacement already lined up....I'm guessing someone like Sterling(if signed) could slot into his position if Navas heads back to Sevilla?

Be careful what some of you wish for. Sterling is much more frustrated to watch and got half the football brain Navas has imo.

But is 20 years old and this season has been playing for a club he didnt want to be at! Sterling is explosive and when he finds consistency will demolish fullbacks for fun.

If it means he doesn't take our corners then I'm all for it.

Jokes aside he's a decent player and seems like a nice bloke but we could do and need better.

Im sure he got the joint most assists for us last season with Aguero... not bad for someone with a terrible final ball!

If he goes we should get at least £15m for him so would take a big chunk of the money will spend on Sterling if he comes.
