surely the stand would have been designed using the 2013 RIBA regulations and not the superceded 2007 coding matrix and therefore it would be under stage 3 and 4 technical design.

Design started in 2011 so it remained under 2007 coding

Moggzy, Do you think its a good idea posting your personal work details/plans/pics whilst your still on site ?

It's not just cost - its value.

Why spend all that money for 1000 / 1500 extra seats?

It would take decades to recoup the cost

By my thumbnail reckoning it will take over a decade to recoup the cost of this extension. Thanks for the pics and the info, by the way.

But the £80m isnt just trying to be recouped by ticket sales?! It's more fans spending at the stadium, food, beer, merchandise etc and the new collar site development with shops, bars, restaurants etc that will be alongside the new tourist destination. I assume the club would also love to host major finals like champions league and europa league but need to make the stadium bigger and better.

But we have an owner who doesn't necessarily WANT to recoup the cost. And FFP allows it - old or new. If he puts 80M in out of his own pocket then the club benefits from day one.

Khaldoon has made it clear that the Club is now profitable and our owners will expect a profit moving forward.

Also, as Moggsy has said, it is not just about increased revenues directly but also the increased value of the Club to our owners. Both our profitability and the Club's value is increasing - even if it takes a decade to recoup the investment in the South Stand!

Cannot wait for the first game when it's proper Manchester weather, and all the complaints start pouring in about getting wet because the roof is crap, badly designed, waste of money, should have been retractable etc.

Not forgetting when the chips run out due to the increased number of fans in the stadium!

Why is it badly designed and 'crap'? It's not even finished yet and people are talking down a fantastic re-development. Do you honestly believe the engineers and design team forgot to factor in adequate drainage for the new structure? Unless of course your post was intended as a sarcastic response to previous posters?
