There are none. So the club should find an alternative way of meeting the homegrown quota through the use of cheaper squad players and use the big money to buy big talent.

Hypothetical situatuon but can you imagine if some club from Iceland got bought over by some multi trillionaire and decided to spend 50 million on an Icelandic winger just to meet their homegrown quota? It doesn't make any sense.

At European level, it would be of no benefit to the club.

If British talent isn't available then don't spend silly money on it just to meet a quota, it'll do us more harm than good in the longer term.

Could not have answered the question better myself m8 :)

YES We need homegrown BUT do not have to sign a homegrown player in THAT posistion- how about a LB which in my opinion we sorely need.

Rose for example, even if he was a flop at least it would be a waste of a much, smaller fee rather than a waste of 40M upwards, which in my iopinion Sterling is.

Sterling will be a top player, regardless of nationality.

We need top quality young homegrown players and Sterling is the best there is. Maybe we are overpaying a little, but £10 million extra is nothing in today's football.

We're about to sign the most talented youngster in English football. I'm excited.

Serene in the air 'cause I love you lady

I dream on, ohhh, 'cause that songbird singing
Shout it out for me, shout it out for me, so come on now
Oh me, oh my, I'm running out of batteries
I'm hanging from the ladder
The tears you cried are only meant to flatter me
That shit don't matter at all, taking the shots as I fall
Watching the wheels that go round and round
One day at a time, I'm hiding from the razor blade
That's hanging in the kitchen
The kids are tired, they drunk up all their lemonade
The bitch keeps bitching and all, taking the shots as I fall
Wait for the wheels to come round and round
Serene in the air 'cause I love you lady

I draheem on, ohhh, 'cause that songbird singing
Shout it for me, shout it for me, ohhh
Draheem on, ohhh, 'cause it's got no meaning
Shout it for me, shout it for me
She go, la-la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la-la-la
I draheem on, ohhh, 'cause that songbird singing
Shout it for me, shout it for me, ohhh
Dream on, ohhh, 'cause it's got no meaning
Shout it for me, shout it for me (come on)
Shout it for me (come on), shout it for me (come on)
Shout it for me (come on), shout it for me (come on)
Shout it for me (come on), shout it for me (come on)
Shout it for me (come on), shout it for me (come on)
Shout it for me (come on), shout it for me

Even if the poster they are abusing is showing an inability to realise that Sterlings transfer fee will show as a cost of around £10 Million per year if he signs a 5 year deal rather than a 1 off payment?

Is it still ok to call someone a daft **** in that situation?

Eh?!

What a crock of shit...Raheem is 20 years old and has possibly the most potential in europe regardless of his nationality

See that's where, for me, there are two separate debates to be had regarding Sterling's valuation.

The first being whether he merits such a fee based on quality (current or potential) alone. If you feel he's worth 50m based on quality alone then so be it. Everyone can have their own opinion. I completely disagree with it based on the fact I don't think he's that good of a player but hey ho, there's no point in arguing about that.

The second debate though is more important. And it's the argument that he's worth that amount of money and that we should pay it 'because he's English'. Such an argument is completely nonsensical. He might be English but if you feel we'd otherwise be getting ripped off then we still are! We can not afford to compromise our stature at a European level by overspending on players we'd otherwise see as average just because of their nationality. That will get us absolutely nowhere.

If (and since I'm Scottish I best put my tin hat on here lol!) England were any good and bursting with world class talent all over the pitch then fine - it'd be worth paying the extra money. But the fee has to be based on talent and talent alone. There's no point (and this is only directed at those who are of the opinion that sterling is worth 50m because of his nationality) in spending such a sum on a player who's one of the best in what's a very poor English bunch of players available.

3,6,9,12 zero zero zero zero
That's the mount we have paid
Hero hero hero hero

Or

Weve got more Stirling £ than you
Rahemm Stirling is a blue.
Repeat until bored.

It will be important to emphasise during the song the subtlety of the spelling....I'm wasted in this job! :-)

I can't make it rhyme

Some sayers on here think we shouldn't spend £50mil on Sterling, but ok to spunk £70mil+ on Pogba. Is ther £20mil+ dif in the two?

2 years older Pogba
3 more int Caps Pogba
both been through UK academies.
Both have incredible skill with the ball
Both had about 2 years first team experience
Pogba leads in more Chumps league experiance

Current and Potential quality are completely different...It's his age that wins it for me...For a 20 year old he's doing phenominally well...One of the best players for England...Candlepool practically asked him to drag them through last season...and impossible task considering his maturity...He also shone in the SAS combination the previous season...surrounded by better players and one not dissimilar from our own Aguero

I just cannot fathom why people cannot see it...when the pressure isn't on his shoulders and he is just one in a sea of talent like we have...I think he will really shine
