Yeah i was meaning clubs have an agreement on the webster rule so it wouldn't work if Sterling used that rule to get a move,i used the wrong wording my bad.I'm not aware of any player using that rule as so far.

Well there was Webster for a start. There has been a few more since then. I don't think it's as simple as just paying your wages to buy out the salary any more FWIW.

Jamie Carragher... You sound like a dick mate.

His quotes clearly sound like he knows Sterling is City bound. Here's the story:

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says Raheem Sterling's reputation is being impacted after he asked to be left out of the club's pre-season tour.

The forward, 20, does not want to go on the forthcoming trip to the Far East after Liverpool rejected a £40m bid from Manchester City for him.

The Reds travel to Bangkok on Sunday then fly on to Australia and Malaysia.

"He's starting to get a reputation that could be hard to rid himself of in the future," said Carragher.

"Are Man City fans looking at the situation and thinking this could be us in a few years?"

Through his request Sterling has once again made it clear to Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers that he wants to leave after reporting back for pre-season on Monday.

He has expressed his desire not to go on the tour in the hope of making a smoother exit from Anfield after an increasingly acrimonious saga in which he has turned down a contract offer of around £100,000-a-week.

Manchester City have had two offers turned down, but are now expected to return with a third bid nearer Liverpool's £50m valuation.

But whether it comes soon enough to avoid the latest twist in what has become a very public breakdown in the relationship between club and player remains to be seen.

"I think this situation will only make Liverpool more determined to get the fee they feel Raheem is worth, rather than caving in to Raheem's and Man City's wishes," added Carragher.

Liverpool have refused to comment on claims Sterling will refuse to travel with the squad, but are expected to demand that every player who is fit and available for selection join up on Sunday.

The way they've played has been dictated by Liverpool and Rodgers bleating to the media and revealing details of private meetings and contract offers. The character assassination in the media has been disgraceful and Aidy Ward's first and only concern is what is best for Sterling not Liverpool.
Sterling has done nothing but refuse to sign a new contract because he wants to move to a bigger club. The same as all those Southampton players that Liverpool have signed.
The behaviour of Liverpool and their deluded fans has been absolutely reprehensible.

totally get that but if sterling and his agent came from that angle that will make here owner think fuck this I could lose out on 40m

I was contacted this morning by one of the national papers, asking if I'd pen an article for them about Sterling.

They asked if I was alarmed by his refusal to go on tour, and whether he'd be loyal at City, to which I replied that I wasn't remotely concerned.

They then said thanks, but that's not the angle we're after.

No doubt they'll now wheel out someone like Colin Shindler who will provide the negative slant they require.

I see the BBC have gone for rent-a-quote Carragher for their, completely unbiased, opinion on how Sterling's request not to go to the Far East will sit with City fans.....

"He's starting to get a reputation that could be hard to rid himself of in the future," said Carragher.

Err, no Jamie, no we're not.

They will probably quote you anyway Ric

Was very tempted to text him something positive from a Blue perspective but thought better. Stuff like this, however petty, should only fire him up.

They even ordered skips and food to his address fucking twats

Haha... would love it if he scored in sky blue at the Kop and pulled an empty packet of this from his shorts:

Can someone explain why it's ok for a club to sell a player while still under contract and the club make it perfectly clear that that player isn't in their plans anymore.Which i'd guess you could say about Edin.
But when a player wants to do the same thing ie Sterling get ripped to bits.

Because (generally speaking) a player and club enter into a mutual agreement. The club offers a pay packet with no promise of games, and the player accepts it.
If a club then wants to sell a player, the player can refuse to leave (or have the remainder of his contract paid up). Of course, usually, the player will want to move on if a club no longer want him, but sometimes they'll stay and fight for a place.
Conversely, if a player wants to leave, the club can hold him to his contract (subject to some duration limitations), but they too will often want to part ways with a player who doesn't want to play for them anymore. Depending on the player's age, and the duration of the contract, he can also buy himself out of the remainder of his contract.

It's a two way deal that both parties enter into willingly, and both know the rules before they sign.

can you imagine the daily barrage of abuse he's getting from the pool fans ? The awards dinner was probably nothing compared to the shit he's getting on a daily basis. Publishing his phone number on Twitter now too ! No wonder he's not keen to go on tour with them

Dirty Scouse bastards. One of them who led the abuse last night was featured in the daily mail and one another maybe the telegraph? But he said I should get paid for being in it. Scousers need all the money they can get to be able to go on holiday to Rhyl every summer...

He's made it absolutely clear to Liverpool that he does not want to play for Rogers in his meeting with the club and that he doesn't want to go on tour. Surely the next step has to be to submit a transfer request?
